Interaction between an early and late stages of schistosoma mansoni and trichinella spiralis infections in mice

Mice were infected with Trichinella spiralis larvae subsequent to a mature and premature Schistosoma mansoni infection. Longivity of T. spiralis adults in the intestine as well as the intensity of T. spiralis larvae in the muscles were significantly reduced. The intensity of S. mansoni as judged by egg count in the liver was also reduced compared with controls, the number of couples was increased. This manifests the presence of cross resistance which was marked with the prematures S. mansoni infection
