ABSTRACT

Zea mays [Corn silk] alcoholic extract showed greater activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae. Escherichia coli Salmonella paratyphi A and Salmonella typhi as compare to Penbrintin, while Raphanus sativus Linn [Seeds] alcoholic extract showed greater activity against all the three organism except Klebsiella pneumoniae [gram -ve] as compare to Penhritin. Raphanus sativus Linn [Seeds] alcoholic extract and Zea mays [Corn silk] alcoholic extract showed greater activity against Bacillus subtilis [gram +ve] in comparison with Penbritin, Cymbopogon citratus [DC] Stapf leaves powder and Raphanus sativus Linn [seeds] oil did not show any antibacterial activity. Raphanus sativus Linn [seeds] oil did not show any antifungal activity

ABSTRACT

Studies were done on the cell-free extract prepared from the mycelium of P. martensii Biourge. The results showed that griseofulvin was produced when 6-methyl salicylic acid was added to the cell-free extract Amudol and dehydrogriseofulvin were produced when sodium salicylate was added to the cell-free extract. None of the above mentioned metabolities were produced when orcinol alone or in combination with NaC1 was added to the cell-free extract
