ABSTRACT

Six dabb-lizard, Uromystax aegyptius were caught from Riyadh and Jeddah areas and examined for natural helminth parasitic infection. They were all parasites free except for innumerable small nematodes which were identified Atractis species. The parasites were collected from the cecum and lower gut. ABSTRACT

Leishmaniasis is vectored by phlebotomine sand flies of the genus Phlebotomus. In a survey of sand flies in Jeddah area carried out by sticky traps and CDC light traps, 3 species were identified. These were P. papatasii, P. bergeroti and P. alexandri. The diagnostic morphology was illustrated. The results were discussed

ABSTRACT

Dicrocoelium dendriticum is a common liver fluke of sheep and other herbivorous animals. Stool samples were collected. Detection of Dicrocoelium eggs were done by direct smear as well as by the simple sedimentation methods. Verification of the stool results was confirmed by demonstrating the adult worms in the bile ducts of the sheep after being slaughtered [PM]. The results revealed that 40% of the Solmalian sheep had dicrocoeliasis as indicated by stool examination and verified by PM examination. Also, Turkish sheep showed 26 positive percentage, while breed sheep showed 2%, i.e. one sheep was infected with D. dendriticum
