ABSTRACT

A descriptive study was done to evaluate the knowledge of [25] nurses in Orthopedic wards at four general hospital in Baghdad city, about the problems and the nursing management to the patient of acute osteomyelitis, from [1-30] march 2000. The questioner consisted of two parts, part one general information about the sample. Age, level of education, number of year of experience and the training courses in orthopedic wards was studded and part two check list to asses the nurses knowledge with regard to problem and nursing management of patient with acute osteomyelitis. The result of the study revealed that the nurses have insufficient knowledge about the problem and the nursing management that must give to patients. According to the result of this study the investigator recommends that all nurses in orthopedic wards-should have enough number and training courses in this field to increase their knowledge of practice, and establish written procedures and policies in orthopedic wards to be followed by nurses
