ABSTRACT

Retrospective study on 163 cases of appendicular peritonitis, which were diagnosed and treated with laparoscopic appendectomy in the Central General Hospital of Tien Giang from January 2003 to June 2004. Results: the accuracy of laparoscopic diagnosis was 100% and complete laparoscopic management was achieved in 99.3%. The mean operating time was 45 minutes. The mean hospital stay was 5.08 days. Wound infection rate was 1.22%. Intra-abdominal infection: 0%. Mortality: 0%. Malignant hypercapnia or postoperative sepsis shock were not found in this study. There were no bowel obstructions or incisional hernias with a mean follow-up of 12 months. The laparoscopic treatment of appendicular peritonitis is effective, safe and beneficial for patients, without any specific complications. It may be performed routinely by experienced laparoscopic surgeons

ABSTRACT

Some new antimalarial water soluble derivatives of artemisinin were prepared by etherification of dihydroartemisinin with appropriate aryl alcohols. They are artelinat and metaartelinat. Influence of catalists and solvent on the etherification and the antimalarial activity of them as well as artesunat were studied.
