ABSTRACT

@# Emergencies refer to those events that cause serious social harm, including natural disasters and public health events, and require emergency response. Medical rescue team is the main emergency rescue team. While carrying out the rescue mission, they are under great pressure both physically and mentally due to the unadaptability of the rescue environment, the lack of protective materials, overwork and other reasons, often resulting in fear, tension, anxiety, pessimism, self-blame and even acute stress disorder. Without timely and effective psychological support, long-term psychological problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder will remain after the event. Comprehensive psychological support includes psychological measurement of the whole rescue process, team formation before rescue and detailed psychological support intervention training, self-relaxation during rescue, basic life and safety guarantee, drug treatment, online psychological assistance, withdrawal of stressors after rescue and lifestyle reconstruction.

ABSTRACT

A switch thrombin aptamer sensor was constructed based on the host-guest competition mode ofβ-cyclodextrin (β-CD ) . The aptamer that modified with ferrocene ( Fc ) at its terminal was fixed on the surface of the gold electrode via the host-guest recognization with β-CD. When thrombin was present, the configuration of aptamer transformed from vertical linear to "G-quadruplex" and far away from the electrode surface, which resulted in a decrease in the redox current of the aptamer probe and produce "Signal-off"effect. On the basis of this, a high sensitive detection of thrombin was made. The detection result indicated that the thrombin concentration had a consideration linear response to the signal of aptasensor between 5 . 0 × 10-13-5. 0 × 10-9 mol/L, and as low as 2. 0 × 10-13 mol/L thrombin had been detected. This method for thrombin detection showed a higher specificity compared to other protein molecules. Besides, the sensor was constructed easily and possessed excellent regeneration, which provided a significant platform for highly efficient real-time detection of thrombin in biological serum samples.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to examine the effect of ovariectomy on visceral fat, serum adiponectin levels and lipid profile. Forty-five female Sprague Dawley rats were divided into three groups (n=15 each): ovariectomized group (OVX), ovariectomized plus estrogen-treated group (OVX+E2), and sham-operated group (SHAM). Body weight, abdominal adipose tissues, serum adiponectin and lipid profile were measured and compared among the groups after three-month feeding post-surgery. Significant increases in body weight and visceral fat were found in ovariectomized rats when compared with sham-operated ones and significant increases were also observed in serum adiponectin, triglyceride and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in ovariectomized rats. Body weight, visceral fat and serum adiponectin levels were profoundly reduced in OVX+E2 group as compared with OVX group. It was concluded that ovarian hormone deficiency induced by ovariectomy leads to significant increases in body weight and visceral fat, along with increased serum adiponectin, triglyceride and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in rats. Attenuation in these changes can be achieved by estrogen supplementation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo compare therapeutic effects between the normal rehabilitation and combined with manipulative method after arthroscopic capsular release for the treatment of severe frozen shoulder, and to evaluate the application value of manipulationp.

METHODSFrom March 2007 to July 2010,arthroscopic capsular release was performed in 48 cases (48 shoulders, 23 left side, 25 right side). All the patients were divided into two groups: control group (11 males and 15 females) and manipulation group (9 males and 13 females). The patients in the control group were treated with conventional rehabilitation procedure, and the patients in the manipulation group were treated with additional manipulation procedure. From the 2nd day after operation, the manipulation was performed for 20 minutes every time, twice daily, and it continued for 10 days. All the cases were followed up and the scale of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Assessment Form (ASES self-report section) and the range of motion (ROM) were recorded.

RESULTSThe mean follow-up period was (12.54 +/- 5.78) months (ranging from 4 to 25 months). Both ASES scores and ROM in the manipulation group were better than those in the control group at the 1st month after operation, and the difference between the ASES scores and flexion of the shoulder were significant. However, there was no significan difference at the latest follow-up.

CONCLUSIONCompared with the conventional rehabilitative procedure, manipulation following arthroscopic capsular release could promote the process of joint rehabilitation and help the patient back to normal life earlier, but there is no evidence of long term advantage.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between fasting serum levels of leptin, glucose, insulin resistance, lipids in simple obese children.

METHODSFasting serum levels of leptin and insulin (Fins) were measured by RIA in 42 obese and 42 normally-weighted children matched on age, sex and height, and their total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) were analyzed with enzymatic methods. HOMA-IR and LDL-C were calculated.

RESULTSSerum level of leptin was (2.74 - 45.12) micro g/L and (0.53 - 10.18) micro g/L in obese and normally-weighted children, respectively, with an average level of leptin (log) significantly higher in obese group than that in control group (P < 0.001). Serum level of leptin was positively correlated with BMI, WHR and percentage of body fat. Of obese children, 83% were leptin resistant. Serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and insulin were significantly higher in obese leptin-resistant group than those in normally-weighted control group, but no significant difference in them between obese leptin-sensitive group and its normally-weighted control group was observed. Significantly higher serum levels of TG and lower HDL-C were observed in obese leptin-resistant group, as compared with those in obese leptin-sensitive group.

CONCLUSIONSA big difference in serum level of leptin between obese and normally-weighted children was found, suggesting most obese children were resistant to endogenous leptin. Leptin resistance correlated significantly with the risk of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, indicating serum level of leptin could be used as an indicator in screening obese children at high risk.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe whether the expression of interferon-regulatory factor genes are re- lated to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).Methods The clinical data of 45 SLE patients and 37 normal controls were collected.Total RNA of peripheral blood was extracted and transcripted into cDNA.Sybr green dye based real-time quantitative PCR method was used to compare the expression (indicated as-??Ct value) of IRFI,IRF4,IRF8 in patients with SLE and those in the controls. Results The levels of IRF1,IRF4 and IRF8 mRNA were-3.90?0.19,-8.04?0.25 and 3.60?0.15 respectively in normal controls. In SLE patients, IRF4 mRNA expression was -8.82?0.18,higher than that in normal (P=0.011).But IRF8 mRNA expression was 3.09?0.13,lower than that in normal (P=0.012).Conclusion Abnormal IRF mRNA expression is found in the peripheral blood of SLE patients.IRFs may play roles in the pathogenesis of SLE by affecting the differen- tiation of Th cells.
