ABSTRACT

A study was carried out at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital on twenty pre-eclamptic females in the third trimester of pregnancy [group I], ten age-matched normotensive healthy pregnant females [group II] and another ten non-pregnant healthy females [group III]. Assessment of their serum creatinine, 2-hours creatinine clearance, serum urate, total serum calcium and urinary calcium creatinine ratio [u-Cacreat] of fasting morning specimens was carried out. Group I showed a highly significant increase in their serum urate as compared to groups II and III [p <0.001, respectively].
