ABSTRACT
Introducción: una de las estrategias del Ministerio de Salud Pública cubano es promover el desarrollo de investigaciones que permitan dar a conocer, en su carácter multidimensional, el envejecimiento individual y poblacional. La sexualidad humana es el resultado de la interacción cognitiva entre el individuo y su medio personal, familiar y social, es una parte importante y siempre posible entre el hombre y la mujer, que en la vejez debe continuar siendo una fuente de placer y no de inquietud y frustración.Objetivo: identificar la conducta sexual de la población mayor de 60 años en el área de salud Tamarindo. Municipio Florencia, Ciego de Ávila, 2010.Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, cuyo universo estuvo constituido por 980 adultos mayores, de los cuales se seleccionó de forma aleatoria una muestra de 200 personas. Dentro de las variables estudiadas se encontraron: la edad, el sexo, el estado conyugal y el interés de tener información sobre el tema.Resultados: hubo un predominio de adultos jóvenes que constituyó el 72,5 porciento de la muestra estudiada; los casados y acompañados fueron el 67,5 porciento de la muestra; el sexo masculino tuvo una mayor representación y el 95 porciento se interesó por recibir información sobre la sexualidad.Conclusiones: de forma general los adultos mayores refieren que la actividad sexual es beneficiosa y manifiestan su interés por tener una adecuada información sobre la sexualidad
Background: one of the strategies of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health is to promote research that allows knowing, in its multidimensional character, the individual and population aging. Human sexuality is the result of the cognitive interaction between the individual and his social, family and personal environment. A very important and always possible fact in the relation between men and women is that the old age should continue being a source of pleasure, not a source of worries and frustration.Objective: to identify the sexual behaviour in a population over 60 years of age in the health area of Tamarindo, Florencia Municipality, Ciego de Avila, 2010.Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was performed which sample was composed of 980 older adults. Of these adults, a sample of 200 people was randomly selected. Some of the variables under study were: age, sex, marital status and interest of getting information about the topic.Results: young adults predominated what constituted a 72, 5 per cent of the sample studied; the married and engaged people represented a 67, 5 per cent of the sample; the male sex was the most represented one and the 95 per cent showed interest in getting information about sexuality .Conclusions: in general, older adults expressed that sexual activity is beneficial and showed their interest in having adequate information about sexuality
