ABSTRACT
A hemoglobinopatia S é considerada doença de saúde pública devido à sua morbidade e frequência. E o desenvolvimento de "screenings" é útil. Em 836 amostras de sangue periférico de gestantes foram realizados, o teste de solubilidade, o teste de falcizaçäo e o novo teste em gel-centrifugaçäo (ID-Sickle Cell Test-DIAMED). 28 amostras foram igualmente positivas pata Hb S nos três métodos utilizados sem discrepâncias, onde todos apresentaram a mesma especificidade e sensibilidade na detecçäo dessa hemoglobina. Entretanto, o teste de solubilidade demonstraram rapidez na obtençäo dos resultados e a possibilidade de serem executados com pouco treinamento. (AU)
The hemoglobina S has been considered a public heath disease due to its high fre- quency and morbidity. The development of screening methods is importante to assist the clinic diagno- sis and to help elaborate therapy measures. The peripheral blood of 836 samples were analyzed by the solubility test, the sickling test and the gel-centrifugation test. Twenty-eight samples were positive for hemoglobin S in the three tests analysed, disclosing the same sensibility and specificity for ali of them. However, the solubility test and the gel-centrifugation method were faster than the sickling test, besides requiring short technician training period. (AU)
