ABSTRACT

Background: This is a comparative analysis of gender differences and effects of phases of moon onAggression and Sexuality. The phases of the moon included are New Moon, Full Moon, a week later ofFull Moon and New Moon respectively, and Lunar Eclipse & Solar Eclipse.Methodology: Statistical Analysis like t-test and correlation were used to understand the significance of thedifference and the nature of the relationship between aggression and sexuality during various phases ofmoon. Results: The calculated t-value is 1.671, after referring to the critical values of t, the results were found to besignificant at 0.05 for aggression in men on full moon and new moon, The calculated t-value is 1.671, afterreferring to the critical values of t, the results were found to be significant at 0.05 for aggression in womenon full moon and new moon, The calculated t-value is 1.671, after referring to the critical values of t, theresults were found to be significant at 0.05 sexuality in men on full moon and new moon. The calculated tvalue is 1.671, after referring to the critical values of t, the results were found to be significant at 0.05 forsexuality in women on full moon and new moon. Remaining results (non-significant) are discussed in detailin the results section. Conclusion: Results of the study can be applied in various settings namely schools, colleges, offices, hospitalsettings, Mental Health Professional Settings for the Mental Health Professionals to create awareness

ABSTRACT

Background: Palliative care aims to relieve suffering in all stages of disease. We studied the effect of introducing palliative care early at diagnosis on patient reported outcome among patients of carcinoma cervix. Methodology: We assigned patients with advanced stage of carcinoma cervix to receive either early palliative care integration or standard oncologic care alone. Quality of life and overall health were assessed at baseline, 12 weeks and at 20 weeks with use of European Organisation for Research & Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ) C-30 scale and EORTC QLQ Cx-24 scale. We studied the secondary outcomes related to emergency hospital visits, compliance to treatment and End of life interventions. Results: The difference in score of EORTC C-30 and EORTC QLQ Cx-24 scales amongst groups was statistically significant at 12 weeks (P<0.05). Group P patients had 100% compliance for treatment, as compared to patients from Group C, as 6 patients left treatment before conclusion. The difference in scores of Group P and Group C, for all EORTC C-30 and EORTC QLQ Cx-24 questions at 20 weeks were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: Among patients with advanced stage of carcinoma cervix, early palliative care led to significant improvement in quality of life, overall health, emergency hospital visits, and admission at end of life.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to evaluate the utility of derivative spectrophotometric method for analysis of Diclofenac sodium (DIC) and Thiocolchicoside (THIO) in combination. Derivative spectrophotometry has allowed specific determination of Diclofenac sodium at 249 nm with negligible contribution by Thiocolchicoside. Similarly, Thiocolchicoside was determined at 246nm with negligible interference by Diclofenac sodium. The described method obeyed Beer’s law in the range of and 4-36μg/ml for DIC 2-10μg/ml for THIO. Validation parameters such as linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity, and LOD and LOQ values were performed. The percentage recovery was 99.52% for DIC and 99.32% for THIO. Intra and Interday precision %RSD values were <2. Thus from the results obtained it can be concluded that proposed method is simple, rapid and specific.

ABSTRACT

A new simple, accurate, precise, sensitive and validated RP-HPLC method was developed for the estimation of Gallic acid in bulk and pharmaceutical tablet dosage form. The chromatographic conditions used for the separation was Phenomenex Luna C18 (2) (4.6 x 250mm, 5μ), rheodyne manual injector with capacity of 20μL and mobile phase comprised of Water: Acetonitrile (80: 20%v/v) and pH is maintained at 3.00 using Ophosphoric acid (OPA). The flow rate was 1.0mL/min with detection at 272nm. The retention time was found to be 3.60min. The linearity was found to be in the range of 0.5-50μg/mL for Gallic acid with correlation coefficient of 0.9994. The proposed method is accurate with 99.97% - 100.58 % recovery and precise (%RSD of repeatability, intra-day and inter-day variations were 1.26%, 0.48-0.95%, 0.80-1.83%). The Limit of Detection (LOD) and Limit of Quantification (LOQ) were found to be 0.0178μg/mL and 0.0539μg/mL respectively. The amount of Gallic acid in Polyherbal tablet was found to be 1.63%.
