ABSTRACT
Se calcula que cerca de 5-10% de asmáticos no responden al tratamiento convencional. El estado de mal asmático se caracteriza por ataques de asma graves desde el principo, o que empeora progresivamente, no respondiendo a las medidas terapéuticas habituales, esteroides, broncodilatadores con B2 agonista y teofilinas. Las internaciones en UTIP por mal asmático fueron mas frecuentes en el sexo femenino. El grupo de edad más afectado es entre los 4 y 12 años de edad. El 25% de los pacientes ingresados a UTIP requirió ARM, y 6% mas ARM+VNI. La mayor proporción de ingresos a UTIP fue en la estación de otoño y verano.
An estimated 5-10% of asthmatics do not respond to conventional treatment. The status asthmaticus is characterized by severe asthma attacks from the beginning, or worsens progressively, not responding to ususal therapeutic measures, steroids, bronchodilators with B agonist and theophylline. The hospitalization in PICU due to severe asthma attacks were more frequent in females. The most affected age group is between 4 and 12 years of age. 35% of patients admitted required mechanical ventilation MV, and 6% adhered noninvasive ventilation. The largest proportion of income was the season of autumn and summer.
