ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship between postpartum depression and experiential avoidance of parturient and to provide empirical evidences for acceptance and commitment therapy in mental treatment of postpartum depression. Methods 309 pregnant women were assessed with self-made general information questionnaire,self-rating depression scale (SDS) and acceptance and action questionnaire-2nd edition (AAQ-Ⅱ) in predelivery periods and 3-7 days after childbirth respectively. Results AAQ-Ⅱ scores in the predelivery or postpartum depression group ((18.54±8.25),(19.07±7.82)) were higher than that in the normal group((15.47±7.03),(14.57±6.57)),and the difference was statistically significant(t=-3.15,-5.07,all P<0.01).It was found that the predelivery or postpartum AAQ-Ⅱ scores were positively associated with the SDS scores of predelivery periods and postpartum periods respectively(r=0.34,0.34,0.24,0.42,all P<0.01).Hierarchical multiple regression analyses were then conducted. In the first block, neonatal exceptional conditions and the predelivery SDS significantly explained variance in postpartum depression(β=0.09,0.62,all P<0.01).In the second block, the predelivery AAQ-Ⅱ still had a significant effect on postpartum depression (β=0.13,P=0.006,△R2=0.01,P=0.006),despite control the age of parturient women, postpartum complication, neonatal exceptional conditions and the predelivery SDS.Conclusion A function to predict the occurrence of maternal postpartum depression is obtained from the experiential avoidance which is attributed to the risk of maternal postpartum depression.

ABSTRACT

Objective To examine the reliability and validity of the meaning in life questionnaire (MLQ) in Chinese sergeants. Methods Convenience sampling was applied to collect data from 574 sergeants.Part of the data randomly selected (n=278) was conducted exploratory factor analysis and the other (n=296) was used in confirmatory factor analysis. The satisfaction with life scale(SWLS),self-rating depression scale (SDS),and selfrating anxiety scale(SAS) were administered to test the criterion-related validity. Results (1) Exploratory factor analysis vertified a 2-factor model which consisted of presence of meaning (MLQ-P) and search for meaning (MLQ-S),and their cumulative contribution rate was 61.02%.The range of factor loading was between 0.62 and 0.85.Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the hypothesized 2-factor model (x2 =32.82,GFI =0.97,AGFI =0.94,NFI =0.96,CFI =0.98,RMSEA =0.06).(2) The internal consistencies were good for the overall scale (Cronbach's alpha =0.79) and the subscales (Cronbach's alpha =0.80 and 0.78,respectively).(3) MLQ-P score was positively correlated with SWLS (r=0.21,P<0.01),while negatively correlated with SDS and SAS(r=-0.50,-0.43).MLQ-S had positive correlation with MLQ-P(r=0.31,P<0.01).(4)Scores of MLQ-p and MLQ-S in sergeants were higher than college students(t=38.13,P<0.001,t=25.07,P<0.001).Conclusion The Chinese version of MLQ is reliable and valid for application to Chinese sergeants.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between personality and social network profile-based information.Methods 438 college students were recruited,and Big five inventory NEO-FFI was applied to all subjects.The participants' Renren web profile information were recorded.Results ①Individuals with higher score of Extraversion had more friends (2.47 ± 0.29,2.34 ± 0.27,F =17.861,P =0.000),shared more (2.51 ± 0.56,2.32 ± 0.57,F =8.617,P =0.004),pasted more photographs (2.30 ± 0.51,2.14 ± 0.56,F =5.523,P =0.02).② There was a U shape correlation (t =2.258,P =0.024,t =2.115,P =0.035) between levels of neuroticism and numbers of blogs (0.66 ± 0.71) and photographs (1.92 ± 0.83).③There was no difference on numbers of friends (2.38 ± 0.31,2.39 ± 0.27,F =0.149,P =0.700) and e-gifts received (1.30 ± 0.52,1.26 ± 0.45,F =0.257,P=0.613) between participants of high and low levels of agreeableness.④ Individuals with higher scores in openness shared more with others(2.46 ± 0.57,2.29 ± 0.58,F =5.248,P =0.023).⑤ Individuals being more conscientious had more blogs(1.08 ±0.49,0.96 ±0.48,F=3.064,P=0.082).Conclusion There are significant differences about profile-based information among college students with different personality.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between social network behaviors and personality. Methods Both questionnaires including self-reported Renren questionnaire and the simplified Chinese version of NEO five-factor inventory (NEO-FFI) were completed in university students (n =509).Results (1) Individuals with higher score of Extraversion used Renren applications more frequently, such as using Wall (2.26 ± 0.51,2.10±0.40,t=3.163,P=0.002),Status Update (2.58 ±0.71,2.33 ±0.62,t =3.268,P=0.001),Image (2.05±0.88,1.81 ±0.72,t=2.628,P=0.009),and Photo (2.17 ±0.49,1.96 ±0.33,t=4.409,P<0.01).(2)Individuals with higher score of Openness of Experience were more likely to use Gift (2.01 ± 0.49,1.83 ± 0.59,t =2.870,P =0.005).(3) Individuals who were willing to use Blacklist (41.93 ± 4.41,43.07 ± 4.72,t =2.207,P =0.028) and who were willing to send private messages (42.23 ± 4.79,43.27 ± 4.55,t =2.476,P =0.014) have higher score of Agreeableness.(4) Individuals who checked messages more often had higher score of Conscientiousness (41.59 ± 6.33,40.72 ± 5.67,37.56 ± 8.33,F =7.170,P =0.001).(5) Individuals with higher score of Neuroticism were more likely to be dependent to Renren (2.91 ± 1.01,2.48 ± 1.02,t =3.815,P <0.01).Individuals who were more likely to express their emotions on SNS had higher score of Neuroticism (33.10 ± 6.78,32.19 ± 6.16,31.36 ± 5.77,F=3.594,P =0.010).Conclusion The data suggest that the usage of social networking sites are related to personality factors.Personality can be used to predict university students' social networking behaviors.
