ABSTRACT
A Ortodontia atual vem sofrendo, há duas décadas, um contínuo processo deadaptação aos novos recursos tecnológicos e às novas técnicas que apareceram com oobjetivo de tornar a terapia ortodôntica cada vez mais rápida, confortável e, sobretudo,eficaz para o ortodontista e para o paciente. Em especial, os aparelhos autoligados, criadosinicialmente com o intuito de tornar mais prática a inserção e a remoção do fio ortodônticoda canaleta do bráquete, hoje, apresentam características essenciais para uma abordagemmais biológica e mais eficiente da movimentação dentária. Sendo assim, este trabalho visouabordar as vantagens do uso desta nova geração de bráquetes em comparação aos sistemasconvencionais, através de uma revisão bibliográfica do tema. Concluiu-se que os sistemasauto ligados apontam como uma grande tendência mundial aos recursos terapêuticos daprática ortodôntica por suas qualidades de redução do tempo total de tratamento, reduçãodo tempo de cadeira, controle de biofilme e bons resultados .

The conclusion was the self-ligating systems put forward as a great world-wide trendto the therapeutical resources of practical the orthodontic one for its qualities of reductionof the total time of treatment, reduction of the chair time, control of bacterial plate andsatisfactory results.
