ABSTRACT
El envejecimiento individual ha estado presente en todas las épocas del desarrollo social, como tema de interés para la filosofía, el arte y la medicina de todas las épocas. Sin embargo, en la sociedad moderna, a inicios del siglo XXI, se asiste a una situación singular, las personas sobrepasan las barreras cronológicas que el hombre ha situado como etapa de vejez, lo que convierte al envejecimiento poblacional en, quizás, uno de los retos más importantes para las sociedades modernas. De manera que la importancia alcanzada por este sector poblacional demanda un compromiso moral cada vez mayor de los profesionales de la salud y en particular, de la enfermera. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica para destacar los principios éticos que norman el trabajo de la enfermera gerontológica. La investigación se realizó en el período comprendido de enero a julio de 2001 en el que se revisó literatura actualizada nacional e internacional. Fueron similares los principios éticos de enfermería relacionados con la atención del adulto mayor con la enfermedad de Alzheimer. Estos resultados muestran que el proceso de envejecimiento necesita ayuda y la enfermera que se caracteriza por su humanitarismo, es fiel cumplidora de los principios éticos que sustentan la práctica de Enfermería(AU)
The individual aging has been present in all the times of the social development, like topic of interest for the philosophy, the art and the medicine of all the times. However, in the modern society, to beginnings of the XXI century, you took hold to a singular situation, people surpass the chronological barriers that the man has located as stage of age, what converts to the populational aging in, maybe, one of the most important challenges for the modern societies. So that the importance reached by this sector populational demand a moral commitment every time bigger than the professionals of the health and in particular, of the nurse. He/she was carried out a bibliographical revision to highlight the ethical principles that norman the nurse's gerontológica work. The investigation was carried out in the understood period of January to July of 2001 in which national and international modernized literature was revised. They were similar the ethical principles of infirmary related with the biggest adult's attention with the illness of Alzheimer. These results show that the aging process needs help and the nurse that it is characterized by its humanitarismo, it is faithful trustworthy of the ethical principles that sustain the practice of Infirmary(AU)
