ABSTRACT
As fraturas condilares são as fraturas mandibulares mais comuns. Normalmente ocorrem por golpes indiretos na região da sínfise. Quedas acidentais, acidentes automobilísticos, agressões físicas, acidentes motociclísticos e esportivos são os principais fatores etiológicos associados às fraturas condilares. Essas fraturas devem, sempre que possível, ser tratadas conservadoramente. O tratamento cruento é indicado nos casos em que houve fratura com deslocamento e luxação da cavidade glenóide. Nesses casos está indicada a fixação por meio de miniplacas. O objetivo deste trabalho é a apresentação de um caso clínico de fratura de colo de processo condilar tratado cirurgicamente com fixação de mini-placas para redução da fratura e ancoragem dento-alveolar com uso de aparelho ortodôntico.
Condylar fractures are the most common fractures of the mandible. They usually occur by indirect blows to the mandibular symphysis region. Accidental falls, automobile and motorcycle accidents, physical assaults, and sports injuries are the most etiologic factors associated with condylar fractures. Whenever possible, these fractures should be treated conservatively. Open reduction treatment is indicated in cases in which the fracture has occurred with displacement and dislocation from the glenoid cavity. In these cases, it is recommended to use a fixation through miniplates. The objective of this study is to present a clinical case ofa fractured neck of the codylar process of the mandible, which was surgically treated with fixation of miniplates to reduce the fracture and to perform dentoalveolar anchorage through dental braces usage.
