ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the curative effect in patients with prostate cancer by 125I implantation with endocrine therapy. Methods Sixty cases of patients with prostate cancer were divided into the experiment group (30 cases) and the control group (30 cases) with or without 125I implantation. The control group were treated by endocrine therapy, the experiment group were treated by 125I implantation based on endocrine therapy. The curative effect were observed. Results The volume of prostate inthe experiment group after 6 month treatment were smaller than that in the control group (P0.05). Conclusion It has significant efficacy in patients with prostate cancer by 125I implantation with endocrine therapy which can improve the level of PSA and KPS scores. The long-term survival situation is satisfactory. This method is worth of generalization in clinic.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To study the epigenetic mechanisms involved in the evolution of prostate cancer from an an-drogen-dependent state to an androgen-independent state , and the global difference of histone H 3 methylation between an-drogen-dependent and -independent prostate cancer cells .METHODS:The methylation sites and patterns of histone H 3 in androgen-dependent prostate cancer cell line LNCaP and androgen-independent prostate cancer cell line DU 145 were ana-lyzed by heavy methyl stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture ( SILAC) coupled with 2D LC-MS/MS.West-ern blotting was used to verify the results from MS .The differential expression of related methylases and demethylases was tested by real-time PCR.RESULTS:Five methylation sites on histone H3 were found in both cell lines, the patterns of which were as follows: H3K14me2, H3R17me1, H3K36me1, H3K36me2, H3K36me3, H3R72me2, H3K79me1 and H3K79me2.There were 2 different peptides both containing methylated H 3K36,“KSAPATGGVKKPHR” and“KSAPSTG-GVKKPHR”, which were different from the 31th amino acid residue “A” and “S”.The former peptide belonging to his-tone H3 variants, H31T, H31 and H32, was mainly identified in DU145 cells, the total peptide counts of which were much more than that of the latter peptide belonging to histone H 3 variant H31T, suggesting that these 2 cell lines expressed differ-ent histone H3 variants.Mono-and dimethylation of H3K36 were not different between these 2 cell lines, but the trimethyl-ation was significantly higher in DU 145 cells than that in LNCaP cells .Many H3K36 demethyltransferases were decreased in DU145 cells compared with LNCaP cells .CONCLUSION: The differential expression of histone H 3 variants and H3K36 demethyltransferases may result in up-regulation of H3K36 tri-methylation during the evolution of prostate cancer from an androgen-dependent state to an androgen-independent state .

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the pulp prognosis and influence factors of dentin-fractured teeth.

METHODSCase records of dentin-fractured teeth treated with indirect pulp capping and with more than 2 years follow-up were collected. The data related to trauma information and pulp prognosis were recorded and the influence factors were analyzed by Logistic regression.

RESULTSThis study consisted of 205 cases with 242 dentin-fractured teeth. Among 242 teeth, pulp necrosis occurred in 78 teeth(32.2%) and pulp calcification occurred in 3 teeth(1.2%). The success rate of indirect pulp-capping on dentin-fractured teeth was 67.8%. During observation period, 141 out of 177 young permanent teeth completed root development. The extent of fracture close to pulp was an indicator for pulp prognosis (P=0.001).

CONCLUSIONThe prognosis of indirect pulp-capping on dentin-fractured permanent teeth is good. The extent of fracture close to pulp should be considered to evaluate the prognosis of the pulp.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEThe aim of the present study is to investigate the prognosis and influencing factors of crown-fractured young permanent teeth with pulp exposure.

METHODSCase records of crown-fractured young permanent teeth with pulp exposure in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology during 1991 to 2008 with more than 2 years follow-up were collected. These patients were treated with pulpotomy at the first visit at our hospital no matter whether these teeth were treated or untreated with direct pulp capping. The age of patients, interval between trauma and treatment, root development, mobility and tenderness to percussion were recorded. The prognosis was analyzed and Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors.

RESULTSTotally 118 cases satisfied the inclusion criteria, including 136 crown-fractured teeth with pulp exposure. The patients of (8.8 +/- 1.2) years old were periodically monitored for (46.1 +/- 22.0) months. The success rate of pulpotomy after pulp exposure was 85.3%. Pulp necrosis occurred in 20 teeth (25.0 +/- 19.0) months after trauma. The extent of tenderness to percussion showed significant correlation with pulp necrosis, while the age of the patients, interval between injury and treatment, and mobility of the teeth were not related to pulp necrosis.

CONCLUSIONThe success rate of pulpotomy after pulp exposure is good. Tenderness to percussion is an important signal of pulp necrosis. There are no evidence about the relationship between the patient's age, interval between injury and treatment, mobility of the pulp-exposed teeth and the pulp prognosis.

ABSTRACT

The hypercholesterolemia model was established by feeding mice on hypercholester-ol diet. FGS was administered to the hypercholesterolemia mice at the dose of 250,750 and 1500mg ? kg-1 ?d-1, respectively. On the 10,20,30 and 40th day, the serum cholesterol was determined. The results were as follows: 40th day the concentration of TC(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ) was 37. 6,54. 2 and 66. 2mg ?dL-1 lower than that of the control group; and the cocentration of LDL-C was 47. 6,86. 6 and 94. 4mg ?dL-1 lower than that of the control group; while the concentration of HDL-C was 16. 1,38. 2 and 36. 7mg?dL-1 higher than that of the control group. It was proved that FGS was an effective serum cholesterol regulator.
