Studies on some phenolic and flavonoid contents of vicia faba hulls and their antibacterial activity

Vicia faba hulls [broad bean Giza 2, Leguminosae] appeared to contain 18 flavonoid glycosides, three aglycones and two phenolic acids. They were isolated from the 80% aqueous ethanolic extract after its fractional extraction using diethyl ether and ethyl acetate. The structure of the isolated compounds was identified through chromatographic, chemical and spectral analyses.
