ABSTRACT

Vicia faba hulls [broad bean Giza 2, Leguminosae] appeared to contain 18 flavonoid glycosides, three aglycones and two phenolic acids. They were isolated from the 80% aqueous ethanolic extract after its fractional extraction using diethyl ether and ethyl acetate. The structure of the isolated compounds was identified through chromatographic, chemical and spectral analyses. The antibacterial effect of these extracts and some of the isolated compounds was studied by using the agar-diffusion technique on six different microorganisms [bacteria]
