ABSTRACT
A pesar de las mejoras desarrolladas en el diseño de las prótesis valvulares mecánicas, la trombosis valvular protésica continúa siendo una causa frecuente de morbilidad, generalmente por una anticoagulación incorrecta. Se presentó una paciente con trombosis protésica mitral al año de su implantación, que recibió un diagnóstico imaginológico mediante ecocardiografía transtorácica, transesofágica y tomografía computarizada de 64 cortes. La terapia trombolítica fue exitosa y permitió la evolución satisfactoria de la paciente.
Despite the progress achieved in the design of mechanical prosthetic valves, prosthetic valve thrombosis remains a frequent cause of morbidity, usually due to incorrect anticoagulation. A patient was presented with mitral prosthetic thrombosis one year after implantation, who had been diagnosed by transthoracic transesophageal echocardiography imaging and 64-slice computed tomography. Thrombolytic therapy was successful and led to the satisfactory evolution of the patient.
