Este estudo se tratou de validação fatorial do Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness (MUNSH) para adolescentes brasileiros.Participaram 1864 adolescentes de 12 a 20 anos, residentes no norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Foi realizada uma análise fatorial confirmatória visando a avaliar a estrutura fatorial da escala de bem-estar subjetivo para os jovens no contexto brasileiro. Os indicadores psicométricos se revelaram próximos aos exigidos pela literatura sobre modelagem estrutural, garantindo a confirmação do construto avaliado. Os resultados apresentados pelo modelo fatorial proposto evidenciaram uma excelente robustez da estrutura tetrafatorial, a qual, organizou-se em quatro fatores: Afeto Positivo, Afeto Negativo, Experiências Negativas e Experiências Positivas. Organização esta, previamente esperada. Considerando a evidência de validade fatorial e consistência interna da escala, sugere o seu emprego no contexto brasileiro para pesquisas com jovens relacionado ao bem-estar subjetivo.


This study sought to factorial validation of the Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness for Brazilian adolescents. Participated in 1,864 adolescents aged 12 to 20 years, residents in northern of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee. A confirmatory factor analysis in order to evaluate the structure of subjective well-being scale for youth was held in the Brazilian context. Psychometric indicators proved near to those required by the literature on structural modeling, ensuring confirmation of the assessed construct. The results presented by the proposed factorial model showed an excellent structural strength to the scales, which can be noted that the four-factor structure was proven. Considering the evidence of factorial validity and internal consistency of the scale, its use justified in the Brazilian context for research on the antecedent and consequent variables of psychological dynamics on the subjective well-being in the areas of education, labor, social assistance, physical education and others.
