ABSTRACT
O tratamento ortodôntico-cirúrgico das más oclusões do Padrão Face Longa tem como objetivo corrigir não somente a oclusão, mas também o erro facial. A ação descompensatória é quase sempre limitada, porque os dentes, especialmente os incisivos superiores e inferiores, exibem uma relação exígua com suas respectivas bases ósseas, o que exige metas terapêuticas individualizadas ou, em outras palavras, manter os dentes o mais próximo possível das suas posições originais. O presente artigo tem por objetivo ilustrar esta perspectiva de tratamento, privilegiando a face da paciente, onde a mecânica eliminou a excrescência dentária localizada e a essência do problema - o erro esquelético que foi corrigido por meio de procedimento cirúrgico bimaxilar protocolar para os pacientes com deformidades verticais.
The surgical-orthodontic treatment for Long Face Pattern malocclusions is designed to correct not only the occlusion, but also the facial imbalance. Almost always the decompensatory orthodontics presents limitations because the teeth, specifically the upper and lower incisors, are positioned in a very restricted basal bones with great limitations for sagittal tooth movement, which requires individualized therapeutic goals; or in other words, the teeth should be maintained as close to their original positions as possible. The present report aims at illustrating this perspective of treatment, which prioritizes the patient`s face. The orthodontic mechanics removed the minimum of dental deviations, and the essence of the problem - the skeletal imbalances it was corrected by means of bimaxillary protocol surgical procedures to patients with vertical deformities.
