ABSTRACT

Objetivo: Demonstrar, através da análise das respostas de questionários, a satisfação com as mamas, que o aleitamento materno não é a causa direta do descontentamento das mulheres com suas mamas, considerando que a insatisfação com as mamas é normalmente associada ao ato de amamentar. Métodos: Entrevistas com mulheres que se enquadraram nos critérios de inclusão e assinaram o termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido. Usou-se um questionário qualitativo com escala de satisfação com as mamas e dados demográficos. Resultados: Foram entrevistadas 3.481 mulheres, entre 18 e 50 anos de idade. Dessas, 2.359 (67,80%) estavam satisfeitas e 1.122 (32,23%) insatisfeitas. A proporção populacional de mulheres satisfeitas após ter amamentado está entre 65,88 e 69,01%, com intervalo de confiança de 95% (α=0,05) e proporção média populacional de 67,44%, com erro estimado da proporção de 0,0157. Conclusão: Não há significância entre o fato de amamentar e apresentar insatisfação com as mamas, a insatisfação com as mamas está presente em mulheres que não amamentaram e a maioria das mulheres que amamentaram (67,4%) está satisfeita com suas mamas.


Objective: To demonstrate, through the analysis of questionnaires, the satisfaction of women with their breasts, and that breastfeeding is not the direct cause of women's dissatisfaction with their breasts, considering that displeasure with breasts is usually associated with the act of breastfeeding. Methods: To interview women who meet the inclusion criteria and have signed the informed consent. A qualitative questionnaire with a scale of satisfaction with breasts and demographic data was used. Results: 3,481 women between 18 and 50 years of age were interviewed. Of those, 2,359 (67.80%) were satisfied and 1,122 (32.23%) were dissatisfied. The populational proportion of women pleased with their breast after breastfeeding is between 65.88 and 69.01%, with a 95% confidence interval (α=0.05) and average population ratio of 67.44%, with estimated error ratio of 0.0157. Conclusion: there is no significant difference between the act of breastfeeding and dissatisfaction with breasts, women's dissatisfaction with their breasts is also felt by women who did not breastfeed, and most women who breastfed (67.4%) are satisfied with their breasts.
