Efectividad de un sistema de ejercicios para el desarrollo de la expresión oral del Inglés en el perfil de Laboratorio Clínico / Effectiveness of a System of Exercises to Develop the Oral Skill of English in Clinical Laboratory Profile

El desarrollo de la expresión oral constituye un problema en los estudiantes de tecnología de la salud por lo que se aplicó un sistema de ejercicios en un grupo de primer año de laboratorio clínico con el objetivo de desarrollar esta habilidad del idioma. Para la realización de este trabajo se utilizan los métodos del nivel teórico: histórico–lógico, analítico–sintético, inductivo–deductivo para determinar los fundamentos teóricos sobre el tema, y los métodos del nivel empírico fueron la encuesta y la observación. Los ejercicios aplicados fueron efectivos al obtenerse muy buenos resultados.

The development of the oral expression constitutes a problem to the students of Technology of Health; reason why a system of exercises was applied to a group of first year of Clinical Laboratory with the aim of developing this ability of the language. For the accomplishment of this work the methods of the theoretical level were used: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive to determine the theoretical foundation on the subject, and the methods of the empirical level were the survey and the observation. The applied exercises showed to be effective because outstanding results were obtained, after they were putted into practice.

Consideraciones metodológicas sobre el uso del peer learning en las clases de inglés para potenciar el enfoque comunicativo en el Proyecto Policlínico Universitario / Methodological considerations about using peer learning in English lessons to potentiate the communicative approach in the University Policlinic Project (PPU)

La enseñanza del Inglés en las condiciones de la universalización es un reto para profesores y estudiantes, es por ello que un equipo de profesores se da a la tarea de realizar un trabajo con el objetivo de proponer consideraciones metodológicas sobre el uso del peer learning para potenciar el enfoque comunicativo en las clases de inglés en el Proyecto Policlínico Universitario. Se llevó a cabo un pre-experimento pedagógico en segundo año de Medicina del mencionado proyecto, para ello se aplicaron los métodos del nivel teórico como el analítico-sintético, el histórico-lógico, el inductivo-deductivo, los métodos del nivel empírico como la observación, la entrevista y la prueba pedagógica; se constatan las dificultades existentes en cuanto al pobre vocabulario, escasa fluidez, errores gramaticales, desmotivación y el poco riesgo que asumen los estudiantes en su comunicación en Inglés por lo que se implementa una metodología alternativa en la que el alumno explota sus potencialidades y aprende con sus compañeros. Después de aplicada la propuesta se observan excelentes resultados en cuanto a fluidez, seguridad al comunicarse y motivación.

The teaching of English in the conditions of the universalisation is a challenge for professors and students, for that reason a team of professors aimed at the task of carrying out a work to proposing methodological considerations on the use of ¨peer learning¨ to boost the communicative approach in the classes of English in University Policlinic Project. A pedagogical pre-experiment of the mentioned project was done in second year of Medicine, for this the methods of the theoretical level such as the analytical-synthetic, the historical-logical and the inductive-deductive one, as well as the methods of the empirical level: the observation, the interview and the pedagogical test were applied. The existing difficulties: poor vocabulary, little fluidity, grammar errors, demotivation and the little risk t assumed by the students in their communication of the English language are the reason why it is necessary the implementation of a methodological alternative in which the student can exploit his potentialities and learn from his classmates. After the application of the proposal excellent results were obtained such as fluidity, security when communicating and motivation.

Clases prácticas de Inglés para elevar el rechazo al consumo de drogas en primer y segundo año de la carrera de Medicina / Practical classes of English to elevate the refusal to the drug use in first and second year of the career of Medicine

Con el objetivo de proponer un sistema de ejercicios para contribuir a elevar el rechazo del consumo de las drogas y a la comprensión de los daños que causan a la salud se entrevistaron estudiantes y profesores para conocer cómo se trabajaba el tema en las clases de Inglés, se observaron actividades docentes para comprobar si mediante éstas se le daba salida a las necesidades educativas que sobre las drogas deben tener los estudiantes, por lo que se aplicó un sistema de ejercicios en cada una de las unidades; esto trajo como resultado mejor dominio del vocabulario referido al tema, mayor motivación e incremento de la participación de los alumnos en las jornadas científicas con temas relacionados a esta problemática. Se llega a la conclusión de que los ejercicios aplicados contribuyen a elevar el rechazo al consumo de estas sustancias, a través de ellos se logra desarrollar las habilidades de la Lengua Inglesa y se desarrollan valores como la responsabilidad.

With the purpose of proposing a system of exercises to contribute to increase the rejection of drug consumption and the understanding of the damage they cause to health; students and teachers were interviewed to know how this topic is treated in the English lessons. Some teaching activities were observed to check if students' educative needs in reference to drugs were dealt. Therefore, a system of exercises was applied in each unit, which brought as a result a better mastery of the vocabulary related to the topic, greater motivation, increase of students' participation in scientific journals with drug-related topics. All this allowed to conclude that the applied exercises contribute to increase the rejection to the consumption of these substances. By means of the exercises, skills are developed in the English language as well as values such as responsibility.

El trabajo extra clase de Inglés en las carreras de Medicina y Estomatología en los años primero y segundo / Out of class English activities in the majors of Medicine and Dentistry in first and second years

Con el objetivo de proponer desde el trabajo independiente temas a investigar para los trabajos extraclase de la asignatura Inglés, vinculados a las especialidades de las Ciencias Médicas se entrevistaron a estudiantes y profesores para conocer los procedimientos que se utilizaban para orientar y controlar el mismo. Se aplicó una propuesta de procedimientos con el propósito de lograr una correcta planificación, orientación y control del trabajo extraclase. Esto trajo como resultado el incremento de la participación de los estudiantes en los eventos científicos, las exposiciones de los temas con mucha calidad y buena motivación. Se concluye que una correcta orientación y conducción del trabajo independiente unido a una adecuada selección de los temas, aumenta la efectividad del proceso de aprendizaje de la Lengua inglesa e influye positivamente en la actividad cognoscitiva de los alumnos y desarrolla valores como la responsabilidad, colectivismo y laboriosidad.

With the objective to propose topics to be investigated as part of the independent work to be done out of the class in the English subject related to Medical Sciences, students and teachers were interviewed to know the procedures used by them to orient and control the topics. That is why, a proposal of procedures was applied with the purpose of achieving a correct planning, orientation and control of the independent work, and this brought as result the increase of students´participation in scientific events, the presentation of the topics with great quality and good motivation. Thus, it allowed us to conclude that a well orientation and guidance of independent work, together with an adequate selection of the topics, increases the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process of the English Language and influences upon the cognitive activity of the students and develops values such as responsibility, collectivism and laboriousness.
