ABSTRACT
En el artículo se trata con particularidad la edad preescolar, que es la de mayor morbilidad y mortalidad durante la infancia, excluyendo al primer año de vida, además de que en ella se sientan bases que repercuten en la salud a largo plazo. Se comentan el desarrollo normal durante el período, la creación de hábitos, las causas de enfermedad y defunciones, y las características de la atención médica. Partiendo de la difusión de conocimientos respecto a este período, se centra el énfasis en la cultura de la salud por medio de la formación de hábitos saludables y de la prevención.
In this paper, preschool age is particularly approached, since it presents the highest morbidity and mortality during childhood, excluding the first year of life, and it is in this stage that the foundations influencing on health on the long term are laid down.. Comments are made on the normal development during this period, the creation of habits, the causes of diseases and deaths, and the characteristics of medical care. Starting from the spreading of knowledge about this period, emphasis is given to health culture by establishing healthy habits and by prevention.
