ABSTRACT

Mr M S, 31 years old man, with no pathological history, was hospitalised for prolonged fever, hepatosplenomegaly and deep health degradation. Biological assessment revealed pancytopenia and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Blood assessment for leishmaniasis and bone marrow smears confirmed parasitic origin of consumptive coagulopathy. Thus, in a case of disseminated intravascular coagulation with unknown origin, visceral leishmaniasis should be searched and early treated in endemic zone
