ABSTRACT

Drug absorption within intestinal urinary diversions has been reported to cause prolonged and higher grade toxicity. The aim of this study has been to determine the importance and significance of drug absorption via neobladder after ileocystoplasty. Ten healthy adult mixed breed dogs of both sexes [7 males and 3 females], weighing between 15-25 kg were selected. The animals were randomly divided into equal test and control groups. In treatment group, partial cytectomy, resecting 50 percent of the bladder and immediate ileocystoplasty was performed by Lamesch and Dociu technique. In control group an ileal resection and intestinal tract re-anastomosis was achieved without partial cystectomy and ileocystoplasty. In all animals, blood and urine samples were taken before surgery, at hours 1, 3, 6 and 24 after oral administration of Furazolidone [100 mg/dog] and this process was repeated on days 7, 25 and 45 after operation at the same hours. After preparation of the samples, the Furazolidone was measured by HPLC assay. One way analysis of variance and Dunnet test were used for the analysis of the data and P values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. In test group, the blood samples showed significant changes of Furazolidone on day 25. The urine samples revealed significant changes on day 45 in both groups and on day 25 in test group. The results of this study showed absorptive effect of the ileum that decreases with time. Problems arising from drug reabsorption are usually rare and in most drugs a change in dosage [except those which have a narrow

ABSTRACT

Myocardial longitudinal shortening play an important role in cardiac contraction [1,2]. Tissue velocity imaging [TVI] is an ultrasonographic technique that measure myocardial motion and providing a quantitative agreement of left ventricular regional myocardial function in different modalities [3]. The present review discusses the most recent development in the application of TDI in coronary artery disease. Seventy patients with myocardial infarction [transmural and nontransmural] were included in the study. These subjects were diagnosed with recent myocardial infarction wall [septal side of mitral annulus] and basal segment of base of RV free wall were examined for tissue Doppler study with complete transthoracic echocardiography study. Mean age in group of inferior MI, anterior MI and non Q wave MI are as follows: 61.87 +/- 10.7, 57.04 +/- 10.7, 58.45 +/- 9.2. Sm was significantly reduced in anterior MI groups than non Q wave MI [PV=0.01]. In patients with inferior myocardial infarction 88% of patients had left ventricular ejection fraction [LVEF]>45% and in patients with anterior MI 18.2% patients had EF>45%. In non Q wave MI groups 60% patients had LVEF>45%. Except for Sm, other TDI parameters had no significant difference between two groups [transmural and nontransmural infarction] but it has significant changes in reduced left ventricle function and could be of determinants for prognosis

ABSTRACT

The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction with psychological health in women whose husbands had either suffered from psychiatric problems or been exposed to chemical warfare during Iraq-Iran imposed war. Participants were selected from the war-affected women in Mazandaran province in north of Iran whose husbands had either suffered from a psychiatric problem [psychiatric group] or had been exposed to chemical warfare [chemical group] during Iran-Iraq war [each consisted of 52 women]. Women were requested to fill in The Evaluation and Nurturing Relationship Issues Communication and Happiness [ENRICH] questionnaire, Symptom Check List 90-Revised [SGL-90-R] as well as a demograhic form. We found significant negative relationships between SCL-90-R scores and the marital satisfaction scores in both groups. The results failed to indicate significant differences between the two groups on marital satisfaction and demograhic characteristics such as age, number of children, handicapped percentage, and educational level. It seems that wives whose husbands had either psychiatric problems or had been exposed to chemical warfare, suffered from diverse psychological problems and medical ailments
