ABSTRACT

Perforation of the uterus by an intrauterine contraceptive device [IUD] is rare and can lead to serious complications. Penetration of the urinary bladder by a misplaced IUD is uncommon. We report a very rare case of bladder penetration by a lost "forgotten" IUD which presented with symptoms of cystitis 16 years after its insertion. This report shows that the patient with uterine perforation by IUD may remain asymptomatic for a long time before complaining of chronic pelvic pain and dysuria

ABSTRACT

Three cases of congenital hernia of Morgagni in children are reviewed. All were in boys aged 5, 9, and 13 months whose dominant symptoms were recurrent episodes of chest infection beginning since early infancy. The diagnosis was established by chest X-ray and barium studies. A transabdominal approach was employed for repair with good result. A brief outline of the management is presented

ABSTRACT

This study demonstrates the distribution of Quetelet's body mass index [i.e. weight/height[2]] among 467 married non-pregnant female patients. The overall prevalence of obesity was 27%. Statistical analysis of our data showed that age was a significant contributor to obesity, rather than parity. A higher proportion of multiparous women were found to be obese due to the confounding effect of age on obesity
