ABSTRACT

Rehabilitation is the word most commonly used to describe the support given to facilitate progress following cochlear implantation with adults and children. The process of implantation is to provide access spoken language via audition. In this study the process of auditory skills development, language acquisition and speech perception in 30 patients of Fars cochlear implant center is from April 2004 during 1.5 years period described. The rehabilitation program begins after 40 days of operation and it is included of 80 sessions during one year. The exercises which have done in this period of time are in the field of auditory, language and speech skills. This study shows that there's a close relation between age and improvement in rehabilitation program. Also the critical period for learning language, cooperative parents and the child's learning ability are essential factors for getting good results. The results of this research and other inquiries about Chinese children show that if the period of time for rehabilitation after operation be longer the child will do better and for better results of speech perception progress it is necessary to do operation at the lower ages
