ABSTRACT
Two new sets of cadmium complexes were prepared from the reaction of phosphonium or sulfonium salts with cadmium chloride. The complexes have the general formulae [CdL Cl2] and [CdL2] Cl2 and were characterized by elemental analysis and conductance measurements. The IR spectra of the complexes showed that the CO group of the phosphonium or sulfonium salts coordinates to the central Cd [II] ion. Electronic spectra used to study the spatial distribution of the ligands around the central cadmium [II] ion

Two new series of mercury [II]-Ylides Complexes were prepared from phosphoranes and sulphuranes with mercury [II] chloride. The complexes have the general formula [Hg L C1[2]] and [Hg L[2] G1[2], where L = bidentate phosphorane or sulforane ligands. The prepared complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and conductance measurements. The IR-spectra of the complexes showed that both C=-O and S or ph[3]P coordinate to the central mercury [II] ion on complex formation. Electronic and 1H-NMR spectra of the complexes were also made use of to study the ligated groups around the central mercury [II] ion
