ABSTRACT

The objective of this work was to determine the seroconversion rate andfactors affecting immune response after vaccination of Egyptian infants withrecombinant DNA hepatitis B vaccine, and to evaluate the persistence of antibodyresponse [anti-HBs] in the vaccines at one year after primary vaccination. Seroconversion was detected in 155 vaccinated infants, of whom 125 were goodrespondents and 30 infants were moderate responders and 11 infants werepoor or non- responders. Immune response was not influenced by gender, modeof feeding or nutritional status. All infants with primary good responseretained protective antibody titer, while only 40% of the moderate respondersretained protective antibody level
