ABSTRACT

91 school children from both sexes, aged 6-12 years, were selected from a sample of the E. C. 3049 in Independencia District an under privileged area of the northern part of Lima, with a population in the low socioeconomic strata. The authors tried to establish a relation between the nutritional childrenÆs status, as showed by anthropometric measures (height, weight and cephalic perimeter), with their academic aptitude measured by the California Mental Maturity test, pre-school series (graphic part), which is a standardized instrument for this kind of population. Results are shown in tables and graphics. They sustain a positive correlation between both variables. Suggestions are formulated in order to further this type of research.
