ABSTRACT

After having reviewed the original article "Level of knowledge of hand hygiene in nurses and doctors of three national hospitals of the social health insurance, 2018" it is in our interest to state that this study confirms what previous publications have found: a low level of knowledge regarding a strategy that has proven to be the best and most economical way to reduce the proportion, morbidity, mortality and economic costs of infections associated with health care (HAI). However, not only is the level of knowledge deficient, but also compliance and attitudes regarding hand hygiene, all of which complicates the scenario and perpetuates the high prevalence rates of HAI.
