ABSTRACT

To identify the diagnostic factors of ovarian cancer. Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nishtar Hospital, Multan. All those women who were diagnosed to have ovarian cancer were initially recruited for the study purpose. A proforma was filled by each patient with help to assess the time lag between the initial symptoms experienced by the patient and their referral to the tertiary centre. Course followed by the patient to reach the tertiary centre was also assessed. At the end the data was analyzed to highlight the various caused of delay. Various caused of late presentation were:-Vague and non-specific symptoms. Initial presentation to general practitioners having little awareness. Presentation to non-professional personals. Early detection of ovarian cancer will continue to challenge the skill of astute clinicians as well as their accumulated scientific acumen

ABSTRACT

A young married women in her 3rd ongoing pregnancy, having no alive issue presented at 37+ weeks with labor pains. Cesarean section was planned because of twin pregnancy and past bad obstetrical history. During operation, the uterus was found to have rotated to 180 degree to the right. A transverse incision was made on posterior wall of uterus to deliver babies. After suturing the incision site, the uterus was repositioned in right place. This paper presents a case of torsion of gravid uterus in which the delivery and repositioning of the uterus was successful

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To assess the Results of operative laparoscopy in the management of ovarian cysts. Design: Retrospective evaluation of women who had undergone laparoscopic management of cystic ovarian masses. SUBJECT: Forty five women with clinically and sonographically benign cystic ovarian masses. INTERVENTION: Operative laparoscopy under general anaesthesia. No major intra-operative complication occurred in this series. Minor complications included injury of inferior epigastric artery, nausea, shoulder pain and urinary retention. Adnexal cystic mass varied form 4 to 12 cms with a mean size 6.5 cms. Histopathological examination showed malignancy in 2% of cases. Operative laparoscopy appears to be safe and effective method for treating clinically and ultrasonographically benign ovarian cysts. Day surgery is possible in majority of cases
