ABSTRACT

Ocular manifestations resulting from Rift Valley Fever [RVF] infection were studied in 42 patients. All complain of sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes following acute febrile illness. The characteristic lesion is macular or paramacular white lesion with ill defined edges [infarcet retinitis]. Vasculitis, vascular occlusion, hemorrhage and edema are common in most of eyes. Patients were monitored during a 6-month convalescence. Approximately, more than one-half of the patients showed a permanent loss in the visual acuity

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to find out the effect of different used local antiglucoma medications on the state of refraction. This work was carried in 105 eyes suffering from glaucoma; 21 with angle closure and 84 with open angle glaucoma.Ocular examination was done with special attention to the pretreatment and post-treatment tension and refraction.According to the given therapy, the eyes were divided into 5 subgroups.L-Given pilocarpine eye drops 2% [21eyes] II. Given timoptol eye drops 0.5% [40 eyes] III. Given propine 0.1% eye drops [18 eyes] IV. Given pilocarpine + timoptol [14 eyes] V. Given timoptol + propine [12 eyes] This study showed that eyes treated with either pilocarpine 2% or combined with timoptol showed a change in refraction of 0.25-0.5 D to wards myopia. No refraction was noted in the other sub groups
