ABSTRACT

Background and Purpose: Cardiac catheterization is one of the most common diagnostic and therapeutic methods of cardiovascular diseases. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of guided imagery on patients' anxiety awaiting cardiac catheterization.


Materials and Methods: This interventional study[randomized trial] was carried out on 62 patients undergoing coronary angiography for the first time in vasey hospital of Sabzevar in 2013. .In the case group, guided Imagery method[a method of relaxation] was performed Information was collected via a State-Trait Anxiety Inventory [STAI], and an anxiety standard questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SAS 9.1 and SPSS 16 statistical softwares.


Results: The average age of participants in this study was 57.06 +/- 8.9 years. 25 participants [40.32%] were female and 37 [59.67%]were male. in the case group, mean score of State-Trait Anxiety decreased significantly in comparison to the control one after the intervention. [p<0.001]. The average score of anxiety in the control group before angiography had increased. Moreover, there was no significant correlation between anxiety and demographic variables like age and sex.


Conclusions: Guided imagery and relaxation impress patients' anxiety undergoing first-time coronary angiography. Therefore, there is recommended to use this method before cardiac catheterization performance.

ABSTRACT

Background and Aims: This study examined the quality of life, level of Intimacy with the Quran and their relation to some demographic data on employee Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences


Materials and methods: This study is a descriptive - analytical study of 85 employees in 1392 Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences. questionnaire collected information includes a health-related quality of life [SF-36] questionnaire and Intimacy with the Qur'an. For data analysis software STATA version 11 was used. In all analyzes, the significance level of 0/05 considered to be two-sided hypothesis test. Student t-test and ANOVA were used to compare the means


Result: In this study, 26 members [31%] men and 59 [69%] were female, the average age of 35/8 ,SD 7/75 years. Average quality of life for employees, 67% and 41% respectively out of their Intimacy with Qur'an. There is no significant relationship between these two variables. In the study of aspects quality of life, mental health had the lowest mean. However members was in the middle level of mental health and other aspects of quality of life was good. Between intimacy with Qur'an and gender Significant correlation was found. [P-value< 0/0001]


Conclusion: Overall quality of life employees was good and the intimacy with Qur'an employees at the moderate level respectively. So it seems that the plan of Quran must continuously performed for all employee groups in University
