ABSTRACT

Cognitive behavior therapy [CBT] has over the recent years emerged as a strong treatment modality for several psychiatric disorders. Here an attempt is made to enhance our knowledge of its historical background, its basic principles and what role it plays in the management of common psychiatric problems primary care physicians see in their daily practice. Surprisingly the basic concepts of CBT not only apply to psychiatric pathology but also everyday lives of patients and clinicians
