ABSTRACT
Este artigo objetiva revelar e compreender a vida do idoso após a morte do amigo de asilo. Fez-se abordagem qualitativa, utilizou-se como teoria norteadora a história oral temática e como técnicas para coleta dos dados: entrevista e observação participante indireta. O período de coleta foi de abril-junho/2003, em uma residência geriátrica, situada na cidade do Salvador - BA. Entrevistou-se 15 idosos residentes. A análise utilizada foi a de conteúdo temática. Os resultados revelaram que a vida do idoso passou por profundas alteraçÒes impostas pelo processo de luto e emergiram características normais do luto não complicado: sentimentos, sensaçÒes físicas, cogniçÒes e comportamentos. Concluiu-se que os idosos necessitam de atenção e acompanhamento dos profissionais que trabalham nas residências geriátricas afim de que estes superem o luto e continuem vivendo...
This objective article reveals and thus improves comprehension concerning elderly life after the death of a friend from the elderly care center. Using a qualitative approach, oral history was used as the guiding theoretical support and interviews and indirect participatory observation were used as techniques fordata collection. The period of collection was from April to June of 2003 in a geriatric residence in the city of the Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The 15 elderly residents were interviewed. The analysis utilized was that of thematiccontent. The results disclosed that elderly life passed through deep alterations imposed by the process ofstruggle and typical non-complicated fighting characteristics emerged: feelings, physical sensations, cognitions,and behaviors.
