ABSTRACT

To find out the age, sex and site of tuberculous lymphadenopathy and the role of DOTS in the treatment outcome. Single centre prospective study. The study was conducted at D.H.Q. Hospital Gujranwala over a period of 30 months w.e.f 01-10-2000 to 31-3-2003. Ninety Four patients who were suffering from tuberculous lymphadenopathy were registered during study period and they completed 8 months of treatment under DOTS programs. Out of 94 patients 65[69%] were female and 29 [31%] male. Regarding age 52 [55.3%] patients belonged to 11-20 years of age Cervical Lymphadenopathy was seen in 79[84%] patients followed by axilla 8 [8.5%], Hilum 3 [3.1%], Mediastinum 3 [3.1%], and inguinal 1 [1.06%]. Eighty two [87%] patients completed their full course of treatment while 10 [10.8%] defaulted
