ABSTRACT

Background: Marital quality reflects the individual's overall evaluation of marital relationship. The aim of study was examine the effect of cognitive behavioral counseling on marital quality among women


Materials and Methods: The experimental study was a randomized clinical trial with two groups, on 198 qualified women who referred to selected health care centers in Hamadan, Iran in 2016. The intervention participants attended four 90-minute sessions of cognitive behavioral counseling. Demographic information questionnaire and marital quality scale [Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale [RDAS] were completed by the two groups before and after the intervention. To perform the comparisons, t test, Chi-square test and Fisher's test, Logistic Regression and covariance analysis were used. Covariance analysis or change analysis were employed. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS Software, version 21.0. The significance level was set at 5% [P<0.05]


Results: According to the results of the present study, the mean age in the control group and the intervention group was 23.58 +/- 7.54 and 35.04 +/- 7.91 years old, respectively. Covariance analysis was utilized to examine the marital quality scores. In this analysis, after modification of the variables of age, marital quality score of agreement and satisfaction before the intervention, and income status, the total marital quality score experienced a significant change in all dimensions [P<0.05] and the mean scores increased remarkably. Moreover, according to the cut-off point of the dimensions, the scores of all dimensions increased remarkably and the proportion of individuals with high marital quality before and after the intervention changed significantly [P<0.05]


Conclusion: Due to the role of sexual relations in stabilizing marriage, cognitive behavioral consultation was effective in improving marital quality especially after agreement and can be used in health care centers in order to improve the relationship between couples and reduce divorce rates

ABSTRACT

Background: Infertile couples only think of having children during their sexual intercourse, and their constant concern about this issue increases their stress level. Psycho-social and social stress leads to decreased life satisfaction, increased marital problems, and reduced sexual confidence. This study aims to determine the effect of enrichment program on marital and sexual satisfaction as well as marital intimacy among infertile couples


Materials and Methods: This randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted on 50 infertile couples in 2013 in Hamedan. The marital relationship enrichment program was taught to the experimental group during seven 90 minutes sessions. Enrich marital satisfaction, Linda Berg sexual satisfaction, and marital intimacy questionnaires were completed by both groups in 3 pretest steps immediately after the end of training sessions, and 8 weeks later. The results were analyzed in STATA11 software using t test, Chi-square, ANCOVA, RM-ANOVA, and Bonferroni post-hoc test. To check the data normality, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used. P<0.05 was considered significant


Results: Comparison of mean scores related to pretest on the one hand and immediately after the test in 8 week later on the other hand showed marital relationship enrichment program significantly increased marital and sexual satisfaction [P<0.001] Also, mean score of marital intimacy immediately after the test [P=0.04] and 8 weeks after the test [P<0.001] significantly increased in comparison with the pretest under the influence of the program


Conclusion: Enrichment training can increase marital intimacy and also marital and sexual satisfaction in infertile couples [Registration Number: IRCT201604299014N97]

ABSTRACT

Objective [s]: To determine quality of life among midwives in different wards in hospitals in Hamdan, Iran


Methods: This was a descriptive study. Research community included all midwives working in maternity and midwifery departments in Fatemiyeh hospital [state], Bu-Ali Hospital [Private] and Atieh Hospital [affiliated to the Social Security Organization]. The short form health survey [SF-36] was used to measure health-related quality of life


Results: The results indicated that midwives working in obstetrics wards had a better health-related quality of life in all domains as measured by the SF-36


Conclusion: The findings suggest that working in environments that are more related to educational backgrounds of midwives might improve health-related quality of life in this population
