ABSTRACT

Abstract Present research work represents antiviral and antibacterial value of body fat of Saara hardwickii commonly called as spiny tailed lizard. Oil was extracted from body fats located in the ventral region of this animal using hydrocarbons e.g., n-hexane, methanol, butanol and ethyl acetate as a solvent. The antibacterial activity of lizard oil was tested against standard as well as multi-resistant lines ofEscherichia coli, Styphalococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus vulgaris alone and with antibiotic ampicillin. For antibacterial potential, Ethyl acetate and Butanol solvent extract showed best zone of inhibition (7mm) with P. aeruginosa and S. aureus respectively. For antiviral potential, Butanol and Methanol extract showed best HA (Hemagglutination) titer of 04 with NDV and IBV viral strain respectively. It is concluded that lizard oil has antimicrobial potential against different pathogens strains (virus, bacteria).


Resumo O presente trabalho de pesquisa apresenta a importância antiviral e antibacteriana da gordura corporal de Saara hardwickii, comumente chamado de lagarto de cauda espinhosa. O óleo foi extraído de gorduras corporais localizadas na região ventral desse animal usando hidrocarbonetos, por exemplo, n-hexano, metanol, butanol e acetato de etila, como solvente. A atividade antibacteriana do óleo do lagarto foi testada em linhagens padrão e multirresistentes de Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa e Proteus vulgaris, de forma isolada e com antibiótico ampicilina. Para o potencial antibacteriano, acetato de etila e extrato de butanol apresentaram melhor zona de inibição (7 mm) com P. aeruginosa e S. aureus, respectivamente. Para o potencial antiviral, o extrato de butanol e o extrato de metanol apresentaram melhor título de hemaglutinação de 4 com as cepas virais NDV e IBV, respectivamente. Conclui-se que o óleo do lagarto possui potencial antimicrobiano contra diferentes cepas de patógenos (vírus e bactérias).

ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypogonadism is one of the most frequent complications in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients and early recognition and treatment is the core element in restoring impaired gonadal function. Despite the high burden of disease, relevant studies are scarcely addressing the gonadal function of such patients in Bangladesh. The pattern of gonadal function in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients must be characterized before planning a generalized management plan. Moreover, since iron overload is a key reason behind hypogonadism in thalassemia patients, investigating the role of serum ferritin level as a diagnostic tool for hypongadism was also an aim of this study. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Transfusion Medicine of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 94 patients were enrolled in this study. A detailed history and thorough clinical examination were carried out in each patient and recorded using a pretested structured questionnaire. In addition, the laboratory assessment of serum ferritin, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), testosterone and estradiol in serum were also performed. The data were analyzed using the STATA (v.16). Results: The mean age of the patients with transfusion-dependent thalassemia was 18.81 ± 4.65 (SD), with 53.3% of the patients being male. The overall prevalence of hypogonadism was 35.11%, 18.1% being normogonadotropic, 11.7% being hypogonadotropic and 5.3% being hypergonadotropic. The serum ferritin level was significantly higher (p < 0.001) in patients with hypogonadism (Eugonadal: 2,174.79 (± 749.12) ng/ml; Hypogonadal: 3,572.59 (± 1,199.49) ng/ml). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of serum ferritin was high (0.83) and the p-value was highly significant (< 0.001). Conclusion: Therefore, the serum ferritin level and gonadal hormone analysis of transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients can be considered a screening tool for assessing gonadal function and early detection and prevention of hypogonadism.

ABSTRACT

The characteristics of two cyanobacterial strains, Anabaena oryzae and Nostoc muscorum, were studied in order to use them as biofertilizers in a field experiment conducted in the two winter seasons of 2021 and 2022 at the Ismailia Agricultural Research Center Station to study the effect of both strains on peanut plant in sandy soil. Cyanobacterial strains were used individually by coating seed, soil drench, and foliar applications, as well as mixed applications of two strains in various ways. Both cyanobacterial strains morphological examination revealed that they both have heterocysts, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in their culture filtrate, and they were able to produce chlorophyll a and phosphatase enzymes. The results of an agricultural experiment showed that using Nostoc muscorum and Anabaena oryzae separately had a positive effect on peanut plants in a variety of applications, but combining both of these applications with 75% nitrogen increased the growth traits, nutrient contents, and soil biological activities in both peanut plants and their rhizosphere soil. The soil drench treatment with A. oryzae and Nostoc muscorum plus 75% nitrogen produced the highest growth results and peanut yields in a single application. The A. oryzae Soil Drench Application (S) + N. muscorum Foliar Application (F) with 75% N reported the best outcomes in mixed treatments. However, compared to single applications, all blended applications displayed better growth and yield characteristics. The results of the study suggest that employing cyanobacteria in a mixed application will enhance its advantages over a single use.

BACKGROUND: Abnormal uterine bleeding complaints constitute about one-third ofpatients attending the Obstetrics and Gynaecology OPD. To standardize nomenclature ofAUB, a new system known by the acronym PALM-COEIN, was introduced in 2011 byFIGO.AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:To study the various abnormal patterns of bleeding presenting in perimenopausal agegroup.To study the etiology, predisposing and associated factors of AUB.To study the various treatment options available for AUB.METHODS: This study was carried in department of obstetrics and gynaecology amongperimenopausal women attending out patient department. The clinical presentation,ultrasonographic findings associated medical disorders, routes of hysterectomy werecorelated.RESULTS: Menorrhagia is the predominant symptom of 109 patients. 101 were associatedwith complain of heavy menstrual bleeding followed by dysmenorrhea. Adenomyosis wasthe most common abnormality found on TVS followed by Endometrial Hyperplasia,Fibroid and polyp. Treatment was initiated in form of conservative medical therapyfollowed by, combination therapy of hormonal drugs-Progesterone and COC and nonhormonal drugs like tranexamic acid + mefenamic acid were used to control bleeding.Hysterectomy was served as a final measure for all patients who didn’t respond toconservative management.CONCLUSION: AUB is a common problem in peri-menopausal age group and itsaccounts for one third of patients visiting Gynecological OPD. It significantly affects thequality of life in general population.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY: In elasmobranch fishes, variations in gross structural organization of cerebellum has been extensively explored. The basic histological features of cerebellum although conserved in the group but the comparative account on subtle cellular variations is largely underestimated. The present study aims to explore the histological and cellular variations in different layers of cerebellar cortex of the representative elasmobranchs' species belonging to different habitat. Our findings showed that the histological architecture of cerebellar granular layer between the examined species varies noticeably. By and large increase cellular density were observed in all the layers of cerebellum in the representative species of shark compared to ray. The findings were then compared and discussed with reference to their habitat and behavior.


En los peces elasmobranquios, las variaciones en la organización estructural general del cerebelo se han explorado ampliamente. Las características histológicas básicas del cerebelo, aunque se conservan en el grupo, pero la descripción comparativa de las variaciones celulares sutiles es limitada. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo explorar las variaciones histológicas y celulares en diferentes capas de la corteza cerebelosa de las especies representativas de elasmobranquios pertenecientes a diferentes hábitats. Nuestros hallazgos mostraron que la arquitectura histológica de la capa granular del cerebelo entre las especies examinadas varía notablemente. Se observó un gran aumento de la densidad celular en todas las capas del cerebelo en las especies representativas de tiburón en comparación con la raya. Luego, los hallazgos se compararon y discutieron con referencia a su hábitat y comportamiento.

A ninety days nutritional trial was directed to explore the effects of dietary chromium on body composition, gut enzyme activity and physiological status of Cirrhinus mrigala by using G & NG corn. Six experimental diets were prepared by using different levels of chromium chloride hexahydrate (0, 0.2, 0.4 mg/kg, each with G & NG corn). For this experimental trial, 480 fingerlings, irrespective of sex were distributed in six aquariums each with replicate. Results revealed that gelatinized corn along with increasing level of Cr2Cl3.6H2O have a positive impact upon body composition of fish. Hematology was positively correlated with chromium chloride hexahydrate supplementation in gelatinized corn. Amylase gut enzyme also showed significant (P<0.05) increase in group fed with chromium chloride hexahydrate supplemented diet (G corn). However, corn with chromium chloride hexahydrate supplementation did not revealed any significant impact on gut protease enzyme activity. From these results it can be concluded that both chromium chloride hexahydrate and gelatinized corn in fish feed are very beneficial to improve body composition, enzymes activity and physiological health status of fish.


Um ensaio nutricional de 90 dias foi dirigido para explorar os efeitos do cromo dietético na composição corporal, atividade enzimática intestinal e estado fisiológico de Cirrhinus mrigala usando milho G & NG. Seis dietas experimentais foram preparadas usando diferentes níveis de cloreto de cromo hexa-hidratado (0, 0,2, 0,4 mg/kg, cada um com milho G e NG). Para este ensaio experimental, 480 alevinos, independentemente do sexo, foram distribuídos em seis aquários, cada um com réplicas. Os resultados revelaram que o milho gelatinizado, juntamente com o aumento do nível de Cr2Cl3.6H2O, tem um impacto positivo na composição corporal dos peixes. A hematologia foi positivamente correlacionada com a suplementação de cloreto de cromo hexa-hidratado em milho gelatinizado. A enzima amilase intestinal também apresentou aumento significativo (P <0,05) no grupo alimentado com dieta suplementada com cloreto de cromo hexa-hidratado (milho G). No entanto, o milho com suplementação de hexahidrato de cloreto de cromo não revelou nenhum impacto significativo na atividade da enzima protease intestinal. Desses resultados, pode-se concluir que tanto o cloreto de cromo hexa-hidratado quanto o milho gelatinizado na alimentação de peixes são muito benéficos para melhorar a composição corporal, a atividade de enzimas e o estado fisiológico de saúde dos peixes.

Novel coronavirus (nCoV) namely "SARS-CoV-2" is being found responsible for current PANDEMIC commenced from Wuhan (China) since December 2019 and has been described with epidemiological linkage to China in about 221 countries and territories until now. In this study we have characterized the genetic lineage of SARS-CoV-2 and report the recombination within the genus and subgenus of coronaviruses. Phylogenetic relationship of thirty nine coronaviruses belonging to its four genera and five subgenera was analyzed by using the Neighbor-joining method using MEGA 6.0. Phylogenetic trees of full length genome, various proteins (spike, envelope, membrane and nucleocapsid) nucleotide sequences were constructed separately. Putative recombination was probed via RDP4. Our analysis describes that the "SARS-CoV-2" although shows great similarity to Bat-SARS-CoVs sequences through whole genome (giving sequence similarity 89%), exhibits conflicting grouping with the Bat-SARS-like coronavirus sequences (MG772933 and MG772934). Furthermore, seven recombination events were observed in SARS-CoV-2 (NC_045512) by RDP4. But not a single recombination event fulfills the high level of certainty. Recombination mostly housed in spike protein genes than rest of the genome indicating breakpoint cluster arises beyond the 95% and 99% breakpoint density intervals. Genetic similarity levels observed among "SARS-CoV-2" and Bat-SARS-CoVs advocated that the latter did not exhibit the specific variant that cause outbreak in humans, proposing a suggestion that "SARS-CoV-2" has originated possibly from bats. These genomic features and their probable association with virus characteristics along with virulence in humans require further consideration.

Resumo O novo coronavírus (nCoV), nomeadamente "SARS-CoV-2", foi considerado responsável pela pandemia atual iniciada em Wuhan (China) desde dezembro de 2019 e foi descrito com ligação epidemiológica à China em cerca de 221 países e territórios até agora. Neste estudo, caracterizamos a linhagem genética do SARS-CoV-2 e relatamos a recombinação dentro do gênero e subgênero dos coronavírus. A relação filogenética de 39 coronavírus pertencentes a seus quatro gêneros e cinco subgêneros foi analisada usando o método de Neighbour-joining usando MEGA 6.0. Árvores filogenéticas do genoma de comprimento total, várias proteínas (espícula, envelope, membrana e nucleocapsídeo), sequências de nucleotídeos foram construídas separadamente. A recombinação putativa foi testada via RDP4. Nossa análise descreve que o "SARS-CoV-2", embora mostre grande semelhança com as sequências de Bat-SARS-CoVs em todo o genoma (dando semelhança de sequência de 89%), exibe agrupamento conflitante com as sequências de coronavírus do tipo Bat-SARS (MG772933 e MG772934) Além disso, sete eventos de recombinação foram observados em SARS-CoV-2 (NC045512) por RDP4. Mas nem um único evento de recombinação preenche o alto nível de certeza. A recombinação está alojada mais em genes de proteína de pico, principalmente, do que no resto do genoma, indicando que o cluster de ponto de interrupção surge além dos intervalos de densidade de ponto de interrupção de 95% e 99%. Os níveis de similaridade genética observados entre "SARS-CoV-2" e Bat-SARS-CoVs defendem que o último não exibe a variante específica que causa surto em humanos, sugerindo que "SARS-CoV-2" tenha se originado possivelmente de morcegos. Essas características genômicas e sua provável associação com as características do vírus, juntamente com a virulência em humanos, requerem uma consideração mais aprofundada.

Purpose@#This study aimed to evaluate the anatomic circle around the impacted lower third molar to show, document,and correlate essential findings that should be included in the routine radiographic assessment protocol as clinically meaningful factors in overall case evaluation and treatment planning. @*Materials and Methods@#Cone-beam computed tomographic images of impacted lower third molars were selected according to specific inclusion criteria. Impacted teeth were classified according to their position before assessment. The adjacent second molars were assessed for distal caries, distal bone loss, and root resorption. The fourth finding was the presence of a retromolar canal distal to the impaction. Communication with the dentist responsible for each case was done to determine whether these findings were detected or undetected by them before communication. @*Results@#Statistically significant correlations were found between impaction position, distal bone loss, and detected distal caries associated with the adjacent second molar. The greatest percentage of undetected findings was found in the evaluation of distal bone status, followed by missed detection of the retromolar canal. @*Conclusion@#The radiographic assessment protocol for impacted third molars should consider a step-by-step evaluation for second molars, and clinicians should be aware of the high prevalence of second molar affection in horizontal and mesioangular impactions. They also should search for the retromolar canal due to its associated clinical considerations.(Imaging Sci Dent 2023; 53: 137-44)

ABSTRACT

@#Toxoplasma gondii, the etiologic agent of toxoplasmosis, infects about 30 – 50% of the world population. The currently available anti-Toxoplasma agents have serious limitations. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of two antimalarials; buparvaquone (BPQ) and chloroquine (CQ), on immunocompromised mice with chronic cerebral toxoplasmosis, using spiramycin as a reference drug. The assessed parameters included the estimation of mortality rates (MR) among mice of the different study groups, in addition to the examination of the ultrastructural changes in the brain tissues by transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that only CQ treatment could decrease the MR significantly with zero deaths, while both spiramycin and BPQ caused an insignificant reduction of MR compared to the infected non-treated group. All the used drugs decreased the number of mature ruptured cysts significantly compared to the infected non-treated group, while only CQ increased the number of atrophic and necrotic cysts significantly. Furthermore, both spiramycin and BPQ improved the microvasculopathy and neurodegeneration accompanying the infection with different degrees of reactive astrocytosis and neuronal damage with the best results regarding the repair of the microvascular damage with less active glial cells, and normal neurons in the CQ-treated group. In conclusion, this study sheds light on CQ and its excellent impact on treating chronic cerebral toxoplasmosis in an immunocompromised mouse model.

ABSTRACT Parasitic infections rarely involve the oral and maxillofacial regions and pose a diagnostic challenge when they do. Hydatid cysts are parasitic cysts caused by Echinococcus granulosus. Intraosseous involvement is observed in 3% of cases, of which only 2-6% are in the maxillofacial region. A scientific literature search revealed only seven cases involving the mandible. We report a rare case in a 16-year-old female patient who presented with facial asymmetry and well-defined radiolucency of the ramus. Our findings will help in understanding the diagnostic issues caused by non-specific presentation and difficulties in suspecting such a rare diagnosis as echinococcosis of the oral or maxillofacial region. A thorough systemic investigation is essential as 20-30% of these cases show multiorgan involvement.

Background: During the cardiac cycle with the effect on cardiac function, Echocardiographic wall motion abnormalities are kinetic alterations in the cardiac wall motion. It can be characterized as per their grades and their distribution pattern like segmental or global. It can be attributed to a coronary territory or follow a non-coronary distribution. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to evaluate the patterns of echocardiographic wall motion abnormalities among hypertensive patients with electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy.Material & Methods:This was prospective observational study which was conducted in the Department of Cardiology, Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute, Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 2020 to January 2021. In total 76 hypertensive patients with electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy were included as the study subjects for this study. This study was approved by the ethical committee of the mentioned hospital. A predesigned questioner was used in data collection. All data were collected, processed and analyzed by using MS Office and SPSS version 23 programs as per necessity.Results:In this study, in analyzing the status of wall motion abnormalities (WMA) among the participants we observed that, 22% of the patients were with segmental wall motion abnormalities, 18% were with global dysfunction and 59% were fully free from any type of WMA. Among patients with global dysfunctions, 71% were with mild and 12% were with moderate-to-severe dysfunction whereas this ratio was 47:24 in segmental abnormality patients. On the other hand, in analyzing the severity and location of patients with segmental WMA we observed that 47%, 24%, 53%, 41%, 18%, 24%, 29%, 47%, 35%, 53% and 41% were with mild dysfunction, moderate-to-severe dysfunction, inferior wall dysfunction, antero-septal dysfunction, anterior wall dysfunction, lateral wall dysfunction, posterior wall dysfunction, posterior septal dysfunction, LV base dysfunction, LV mid-cavity dysfunction and LV apical dysfunction respectively.Conclusion:In this study, majority of the participants were found free from any type of wall motion abnormality. ‘Mild dysfunction’, inferior wall dysfunction, anterior wall dysfunction, lateral wall dysfunction, posterior septal dysfunction, LV base dysfunction, LV mid-cavity dysfunction and LV apical dysfunction are found as some more frequent dysfunctions among patients with WMA.

Background: Carotid plaques contribute a significant cause of stroke and transient ischemic attacks together with long term disability worldwide. About 20-30% of cerebral infarction has been correlated with carotid atherosclerotic plaque and artery stenosis. The characterization of carotid artery plaque presents an opportunity to quantify patients with risk of cerebrovascular events and may be used to improve the therapeutic decision-making process such as carotid endarterectomy or angioplasty or stent placement. This study attempted to evaluate the imaging characteristics of carotid plaques using ultrasonography with Magnetic Resonance Imaging correlation and predict the risk of plaque rupture based on plaque enhancement characteristics as a surrogate marker. Materials and methods: Aim of the study was to evaluate and compare morphological characteristics of carotid plaques with Doppler ultrasonography and MRI and to predict plaque enhancement characteristics on MRI as a potential surrogate marker for plaque rupture leading to recurrent strokes. The present study evaluated 113 patients (65 males and 48 females) with stroke and transient ischemic attacks with ultrasound documented carotid plaques. These cases underwent Doppler evaluation of the carotid plaques and contrast enhanced MRI on the same day. The plaque morphology was evaluated both in the longitudinal as well as the transverse axis, and the stenosis was calculated based on the pulsed- wave Doppler evaluation of blood flow velocity as well as the area and diameter of the stenosis together with the signal and enhancement characteristics of the carotid plaques on MRI. The carotid artery at the region of maximal intimal thickness was evaluated for maximal area stenosis and diameter stenosis. The area stenosis was calculated as percentage stenosis in axial sections at the site of maximal thickness of the plaque. Results: The maximum incidence of carotid plaques was noted in the 61-80 years age group. The incidence was maximal at 71-80 years of age. Out of the 113 lesions, 65 (57.5%) were in men and 48 (42.4%) were in women. 44(38.9%) lesions were in patients who presented with TIA, while 69 (61.06%) presented with Ischemic stroke. 67 (59.29%) lesions were found on the left side and 46 (40.7%) on the right side. 67(59.3 %) lesions were found in the carotid bulb. The intimal thickness ranged from 1.1 mm to 5.6 mm with a mean of 2.97 mm. The range of stenosis was from 0% to 100%. Heterogeneous plaques were associated with symptomatic lesions in 76.2 % and homogeneous plaques were seen in 23.8%. The incidence of plaque calcification was inversely proportional to symptomatic plaques. Only 47.2 % of patients showed concordance between US and MRI with regard to homogeneity of the plaque. T2 weighted MR imaging of exvivo atherosclerotic plaques aided in the detection and evaluation of fibrous caps. 39 (34.1%) patients were given a gadolinium-based contrast agents, out of which 19 (48.7 %) did not show enhancement and 20 (51.2%) showed enhancement of the carotid plaque tissue. Doppler showed abnormalities in 29 patients (61.7%), whereas in MRA it is 18 patients (38.2 %), p value = < 0.004* in cases with less than 50% stenosis (n=47). In cases with 50-69% stenosis (n=29), doppler showed abnormalities in 19 patients (65.5%) whereas in MRA it was (34.4 %); P value was 0.431, The difference was not found to be statistically significant. While as in cases with 70-90% stenosis (n=37), MRA showed abnormalities in 25 patients (67.5%) whereas Doppler showed it in 12 (32.4%); P value was 0.017. Calcification was seen in 22 patients which appeared as hypointense focus on T1, T2, and TOF images. The heterogeneous lesions were better visualized on ultrasound compared to MRI. Conclusion: Ultrasound is a more sensitive modality than MRI for plaque size < 1.5 mm and a better tool in assessing the plaque characteristics when the area of stenosis is less than 50%. Hence, ultrasound is better as a screening tool. The homogenous lesions on ultrasound appeared homogenous on MRI with the plaque content of fat. The heterogeneous plaque on ultrasound, however, did not correlate with MRI. Enhancement of carotid plaque tissue, which implies vascular wall inflammation, is a marker of vulnerable plaque. MRA has a better discriminatory power compared with duplex ultrasonography in detecting 70-90% stenosis

ABSTRACT

Acute respiratory tract infections (ARIs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in under?five children worldwide. Assam has around 2500 river islands (locally called Chars/Chaporis) in the Brahmaputra River with socioeconomically deprived inhabitants lacking access to basic health?care facilities. A community?based cross?sectional study was carried out among 380 under?five children living in the Char areas of Tinsukia District to estimate the prevalence of ARI and determine the associated risk factors. The prevalence of ARI among under?five children was found to be 56.32%. Prevalence was significantly higher among children living in Dibru?Saikhowa island, with families having >2 children, belonging to socioeconomic class 5 (modified BG Prasad scale), having a positive history of smoking or ARI in family members, having homes with attached kitchens or using wood for cooking, inadequate ventilation or overcrowding and residences of katcha ghars.

ABSTRACT

Background: Oxidative stress occurs due to decreased glutathione inside the body. Some supplements may promote and stimulate glutathione production in the liver. This article aims to investigate the impact of different supplements on enhancing glutathione synthesis in rats’ livers. For this purpose 42 rats (male albino) were separated into 7 groups, each including 6 animals with average weights ranging between 150 and 160 g. Group 1 (control) and different groups consumed a basal diet for 8 weeks, whereas group 2 received 500 mg/kg bw of L-cysteine daily. Group 3 received 250 mg/kg bw of methionine, while group 4 got 250 mg/kg of L cysteine plus 125 mg/kg of methionine daily. Spirulina (20 mg/kg bw), turmeric (500 mg/kg bw), and dried garlic (500 mg/kg bw), respectively, were given to groups 5, 6, and 7. Results: Utilizing the various dietary supplements decreased levels of liver function enzymes, bilirubin, urea, creatinine, and malondialdehyde while enhancing levels antioxidant enzymes of liver, and increased glutathione of kidneys and liver. However, cysteine alone at 500 mg/kg bw decreased glutathione formation in the liver and kidneys. Compared to the amino acid supplements (group 2, 3, 4) used, spirulina, turmeric, and dried garlic had a significant impact on reducing liver function enzymes, bilirubin, uric acid, creatinine, urea, and malondialdehyde and increasing antioxidant enzymes, and glutathione while turmeric supplement showed the best influence. Using dietary supplements did not result in any pathological modifications in the liver tissues, but there were some unsatisfactory minor alterations. However, group 2 showed considerable pathological developments in the liver tissues. Conclusion: According to the findings, using the suggested dietary supplement except for cysteine alone can promote and encourage glutathione synthesis in different organs, especially the liver, hence alleviating the effects of oxidative stress associated with several illnesses.

Background: NPH-related dementia is the only surgically manageable dementia. Response to ventricular shunting in NPH is variable. This study aims to establish a possible correlation between the changes in cerebral perfusion with clinical response to shunting. The study group consisted of 20 patients with NPH Methods: diagnoses who underwent ventricular shunting. Pre- and 3-month post- shunt DSC-MRI was done to assess the change in relative cerebral blood ?ow (rCBF). Mean ± SD values of rCBF in frontal grey matter, frontal periventricular white Results: matter, parietal periventricular white matter and hippocampus were 0.91 ± 0.11, 0.61 ± 0.09, 0.47 ± 0.11 and 0.93 ± 0.06 before shunt surgery and 0.98 ± 0.06, 0.70 ± 0.07, 0.54 ± 0.07 and 0.98 ± 0.06 after shunt surgery in NPH patients who responded to shunt surgery; and 0.78 ± 0.17, 0.37 ± 0.14, 0.41 ± 0.11 and 0.89 ± 0.10 before shunt surgery and 0.79 ± 0.14, 0.37 ± 0.19, 0.38 ± 0.09 and 0.84 ± 0.07 after shunt surgery in NPH patients who did not respond to shunt surgery. Therefore, regional rCBF in these regions increased in responders after shunt surgery, with a signi?cant statistical difference (p-value < 0.05) while no signi?cant change was seen in shunt non-responders (p-value > 0.05). During the summer growing seasons of 2021 and 2022, two field experiments were conducted at Ismailia Agricultural Research Center Station(Latitude 30? 35? 41.901? N and Longitude 32? 16? 45. 843?E) to study the effect of cyanobacterial inoculation (Anabaena oryzae (A. oryzae) and Nostoc mascarum (N. mascarum)) on peanut yield, quality and certain soil biological activities under various nitrogen fertilization conditions and three types of applications, thefirst treatment was carried out as coating seeds with powder of individual of each cyanobacterial strain and the before planted, second treatment seeds were drenched withsuspension of eachcyanobacterial strain individually andthe last treatment was by foliar doses after 15, 45 and 60 days from seeds planting. Results showed that applying cyanobacteria inoculation to peanut plants generally enhanced peanut plant growth, leading to significantly higher yields of peanut and grains than uninoculated treatments. Treatment of N. mascarum + 75% N recorded the highest peanut yield and plant characteristics followed by N. mascarum+ 75% N in soil drench application compared to other tested treatments and types of applications. Cyanobacteria enhanced the amount of N, P, Kand Ca in peanut plants overall. By increasing the total chlorophyl, carotenoids, dehydrogenase, urease activities and nutrients in the peanut rhizosphere, cyanobacteria inoculation had a favorable impact on soil fertility. In general, cyanobacteria inoculation with 75% nitrogen amounts can benefit under peanut growth in sandy soil conditions.
