ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Since the diagnostic value of aldosterone to renin ratio (ARR) calculated by plasma renin concentration (PRC) or plasma renin activity (PRA) is still inconclusive, we conducted a meta-analysis by systematically reviewing relevant literature to explore the difference in the diagnostic efficacy of ARR calculated by PRC or PRA, so as to provide guidance for clinical diagnosis.@*METHODS@#We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library from the establishment of the database to March 2021. We included studies that report the true positive, false positive, true negative, and false negative values for the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism, and we excluded duplicate publications, research without full text, incomplete information, or inability to conduct data extraction, animal experiments, reviews, and systematic reviews. STATA 15.1 was used to analyze the data.@*RESULTS@#The pooled results showed that ARR (plasma aldosterone concentration [PAC]/PRC) had a sensitivity of 0.82 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.78-0.86), a specificity of 0.94 (95% CI: 0.92-0.95), a positive-likelihood ratio (LR) of 12.77 (95% CI: 7.04-23.73), a negative LR of 0.11 (95% CI: 0.07-0.17), and symmetric area under the curve (SAUC) of 0.982, respectively. Furthermore, the diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) of ARR (PAC/PRC) was 180.21. Additionally, the pooled results showed that ARR (PAC/PRA) had a sensitivity of 0.91 (95% CI: 0.86-0.95), a specificity of 0.91 (95% CI: 0.90-0.93), a positive LR of 7.30 (95% CI: 2.99-17.99), a negative LR of 0.10 (95% CI: 0.04-0.26), and SAUC of 0.976, respectively. The DOR of ARR (PAC/PRA) was 155.52. Additionally, we conducted a subgroup analysis for the different thresholds (<35 or ≥35) of PAC/PRC. The results showed that the DOR of the cut-off ≥35 groups was higher than the cut-off <35 groups (DOR = 340.15, 95% CI: 38.32-3019.66; DOR = 116.40, 95% CI = 23.28-581.92).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The research results suggest that the determination of ARR (PAC/PRC) and ARR (PAC/PRA) was all effective screening tools for PA. The diagnostic accuracy and diagnostic value of ARR (PAC/PRC) are higher than ARR (PAC/PRA). In addition, within a certain range, the higher the threshold, the better the diagnostic value.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analysis the expression level and clinical value of serum exosomal miR-744-5p in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods:Retrospective study. A total of 183 subjects, including 92 NSCLC patients and 91 healthy controls, were recruited from Nanfang Hospital Affiliated to Southern Medical University from November 2016 to February 2018. Exosomes were extracted using ExoQuick and the total RNA was extracted from the exosomes. The expression level of serum exosomal miR-744-5p was assessed by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The diagnostic efficiency of exosomal miR-744-5p was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results:The qRT-PCR results revealed that the expression level of serum exosomal miR-744-5p in patients with NSCLC (0.012 2±0.019 7) was significantly lower than that in the healthy control (0.093 6±0.081 9), and the difference was statistically significant ( U=553.5, P<0.001). Furthermore, the level of miR-744-5p in patients with early stage (stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ) lung cancer(0.011 7±0.013 9) was significantly different, when compared to healthy controls ( U=72.5, P<0.001). The exosomal level of miR-744-5p in samples (0.010 6±0.020 3) was lower than that in squamous cell carcinoma serum (0.017 3±0.017 8) , and the difference was statistically significant ( U=394.5, P<0.001). The ROC curve revealed that miR-744-5p expression can be a significant biomarker to discriminate between normal and NSCLC cases, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.933 9 (95 %CI=0.899 6-0.968 1, P<0.000 1). MiR-744-5p can effectively diagnose early stage NSCLC, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.943 1 (95 %CI=0.883 7-1.000 0, P<0.000 1). Conclusion:The serum exosomal miR-744-5p could serve as a non-invasive biomarker for the diagnosis of NSCLC, but further comparative research and expanded verification are needed.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effect of anti-hepatitis B virus of Lamivudine combined with Saikosaponins in vivo. Methods Chongqing duck hepatitis B model was selected and given to Lamivudine combined with Saikosaponins(combined group) oral treatment 28d, then the ducks were observed 7d after drug withdrawal. The levels of serum HBV DNA, HBsAg and transaminase(ALT, AST) were detected before and after treatment, and compared with that in Lamivudine group and Saikosaponins group as control. Results In combined group, the levels of serum HBV DNA and HbsAg were significantly decreased(P < 0.05), and 7d after drug withdrawal the levels of serum HBV DNA and HBsAg showed no" anti-jump" compared with that at drug treatment 28d(P > 0.05). In Lamivudine group and Saikosaponins group the levels of those increased again 7d after drug withdrawal (P < 0. 05). In each group the levels of serum ALT and AST did not change within the same phase during drug treatment 28d and 7d after drug withdrawal(P > 0. 05). Conclusion Lamivudine combined with Saikosaponins in vivo had the effect of anti-hepatitis Bvirus, and the effect was stable and lasting.

ABSTRACT

Objective This study evaluates the Anti- hypoxic effect of Fo li um Bambusae extract (FBE). Methods The survival time of mice under the conditi on of closed normobaric hypoxia, and those subjected to KCN, NaNO2 and lidoc aine poisoning, and the time of electrocardiograph disappearance after occlusio n of trachea and the duration of continuous gasping in mice after decapitation were used to evaluate the Anti- hypoxic effect of FBE. Results FBE ( 22.5 m g/kg, 45.0 mg/kg, 90.0 mg/kg) prolonged the survival time of mice under the c ondition of closed normobaric hypoxia, prolonged the survival time in mice subj ected to KCN, NaNO2 and lidocaine poisoning and prolonged the time of electro cardiograph disappearance and the duration of gasping in decapitated mice. Conc lusion FBE can increase the anti- hypoxic effect of animals.
