ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of intestinal tuberculosis improving the diagnosis rate of intestinal tuberculosis. Methods:From January 2014 to June 2018, at Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital, the data of clinical symptoms, laboratory examination, imaging, endoscopy, surgery and pathological examination of 205 patients with intestinal tuberculosis were retrospectively analyzed. Descriptive analysis was performed for statistical analysis. Results:Among 205 patients with intestinal tuberculosis, 145 cases were male and 60 cases were female, aged 14 to 85 years old. A total of 189 cases (92.2%) were complicated with lung tuberculosis, of which 151 cases (79.9%) were positive for sputum acid fast staining. A total of 126 cases were tested for feces acid fast staining, of which 83 cases (65.9%) were positive. A total of 60 cases (29.3%) were tested for GeneXpert Mycobacterium tuberculosis/rifampicintablet (GeneXpert MTB/RIP), of which 49 cases (81.7%) were positive. A total of 44 cases of intestinal tuberculosis were diagnosed by biopsy under electronic enteroscopy, and 21 cases were pathologically diagnosed with intestinal tuberculosis after surgical resection. The 21 patients were tested for GeneXpert MTB/RIP, of which 19 cases (90.5%) were positive and 10 cases (47.6%) were positive for tuberculin test. Six patients were clinically diagnosed with intestinal tuberculosis after effective treatment of antituberculosis drugs. Conclusions:Combination of clinical symptoms and laboratory, imaging, endoscopic and pathological examination, as well as the therapeutic effect of diagnostic antituberculosis treatment could make comprehensive diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis. The GeneXpert MTB/RIP examination is of great value in the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the correlations of simple bladder capacity measurement and urodynamic examination used for assessing the bladder function of patients with spinal cord injury. Methods From December 2011 to September 2013,a total of 37 patients with spinal cord injury were recruited.Their bladder functions were examined by both simple bladder capacity measurement and urodynamics in the first week after admission. The type of neurogenic bladder, residue urine, bladder capacity and the changes of bladder pressure were documented and compared. Results The simple bladder capacity measurement and urodynamics showed no significant differences in the parameters including residual urine, and bladder pressures when inputting 50mL,100mL,300mL and 400mL water(P>0.05). But there were significant differences in the results of bladder capacity and bladder pressure when inputting 200mL water(P<0.05). The intra-class coefficients between the results by the two methods were 0.606~0.919(P<0.01).The Kappa coefficient of the health professionals’judgments according to the two methods was 0.825(P<0.001).Conclusions The results of simple bladder capacity measurement are reliable. It can be used as the supplement for urodynamics to monitor the bladder function of patients with spinal cord injury.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the therapeutic effect of double fill nine tastes soup in treating children recurrent respiratory infection (RRTI) and the change of immune function.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>77 RRTI patients were randomly selected into observation and control groups. The observation group was treated with Chinese medicine- double fill nine tastes soup, water frying points 2 times oral. The control was treated with transfer factor oral liquid, every 10 mL,2 times daily oral. Treatment periods were both two months. IgA, IgG, IgM and IL-12, TNF-alpha, INF-gamma were detected before and after treatment to assess the clinical effects and the changes of immune factors, meanwhile, a health group was established.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Before treatment, compared with the health group, the serum IgA, IgG, IgM, IgE, IL-12, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma in both groups were significantly different (P < 0.01). After treatment, the ratio of IgA, IgG, Ig M, IL-12, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma in two groups were significantly different (P < 0.01). Compared with the recurrence rate and clinical effects, the observation group was better than control, and the differences were significant (P < 0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Double fill nine tastes soup has significant effects in treating recurrent respiratory infection (RRI) and enhance the immune function in children.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effects of strict dietary salt restriction on blood pressure and proteinuria in chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) patients. Methods From October 2007 to April 2009, 32 CGN inpatients were enrolled. Among them, 15 patients followed a strict dietary salt restriction menu (sodium 100 mmol/d, potassium 50 mmol/d, protein (0. 8-1. 0) g · kg~(-1) · d~(-1) , calorie (105-125) KJ · kg~(-1) · d~(-1) ) for 7 days, while the other 17 patients were fed freely offered by hospital as controls. 24 h urinary sodium excretion (24h-UNa) was used to monitor the salt intake. No changes of drug therapy were made during the study. Blood pressure was monitored every day. 24-hour urinary protein and serum biochemical parameter were measured before and after the study. Results There was no significant difference of baseline 24h-UNa between the two groups [(135.1 ±50.4) mmol/d vs (137.4 ±28.6) mmol/d) ]. During the study, the average 24h-UNa of patients with strict dietary intervention was (97. 2 ± 8.6) mmol/d. Both SBP [ (117. 7 ± 10. 0) mm Hg( 1 mm Hg=0. 133 kPa) vs (106.2 ±9.9) mm Hg] and DBP [ (76. 3 ± 6. 1 ) mm Hg vs (67. 5 ± 5. 5 ) mm Hg] decreased significantly ( P < 0. 001 ) . Proteinuria decreased significantly too [ 1. 57 (0. 3-3. 0) g/d vs 0. 57 (0. 16-2. 72) g/d,P = 0. 006]. The reduction of SBP was positively correlated with the reduction of 24h-UNa (r =0. 572, P =0. 026) , while the reduction of proteinuria correlated with both the reduction of SBP (r = 0. 568, P = 0. 027) and 24h-UNa (r =0. 525, P =0. 044). In the control group, only SBP decreased significantly [ ( 122. 6 ± 15. 5) mm Hg vs (115.8 ±10.4) mm Hg, P = 0.02] without significant changes of DBP and proteinuria When comparing the subgroups who took ACEI/ARB from both groups, the reduction of proteinuria wasmore prominent of those from the study group than the control group [ - 0. 4 ( -0. 95-0. 07) vs 0. 07 ( - 0. 39-0. 42), P = 0. 014 ]. Conclusion Strict dietary salt restriction is effective in reducing blood pressure and proteinuria in CGN patients.
