ABSTRACT
Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) are a rare group of immune-mediated disorders that affect the central and peripheral neuromuscular system in association with cancer.If the limbal lobe system of the brain is involved,it will show paraneoplastic limbal encephalitis(PLE).The discern of patients with PNS is challenging since tumors causing paraneoplastic neurologic disorders are often asymptomatic and sometimes occult.We report a case of PLE with double positive anti-Hu and Yo antibodies,and further analyze and discuss it in conmbination with relevant literature to improve the understanding of the disease.
ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate and analyze the dwarf reasons for children in the area of Huai'an city,Jiangsu province.Methods A retrospective analysis of 92 cases of children with short stature in our hospital in recent 5 years had been made.Results The dwarf reasons for the 92 cases of undersized children were:lack of growth hormone (53.3％),physical sexual puberty delay (16.3％),hypothyroidism (9.8％),turner syndrome (7.6％),nanosoma essentialis (5.4％),familial short stature (4.3％),intrauterine growth retardation (2.2％)and glycogen storage disease type Ⅰ (1.1％).Conclusion The main dwarf reasons for children were growth hormone deficiency and physical sexual puberty delay,and medical treatment should be used as soon as possible.
ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the effects of desflurane on the delayed rectifier potassium current (Ik ) in acutely dissociated rat parietal cortical neurons. Methods Wistar rats between 10- and 14-day old of both sexes were used. The parietal cortical neurons were acutely dissociated enzymatically. The extracellular fluid saturated with 0.3,0.6 and 0.9 mmol/L desflurane was added to the culture dish, then the effects of different concentrations of desflurane on Ik were investigated by using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique in acutely dissociated rat parietal cortical neurons. Results IK was inhibited by desflurane in a concentration-dependent manner ( P ＜0.01). The V1/2 of the activation and inactivation curves and the slop factor had no change after giving 0.6 mmol/L desflurane (P ＞ 0.05). Conclusion Desflurane inhibits delayed rectifier potassium channels of parietal cortical neurons of rats in a concentration-dependent manner, and has no effect on the activation and inactivation of delayed rectifier potassium channels, indicating that the change in the excitability of the channel is not involved in the mechanism of inhibitory effect of desflurane, and the other reasons may be involved in the mechanism.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the cerebral circulation time and disease condition and prognosis in patients with acute subarachnoid hemorrhage. Methods DSA were performed to determine the cerebral circulation time (CCT) in 60 patients who had subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) within 3 days. The patients were divided into different groups according to the severity of the disease condition,patients with CSC score as 13-15 were assigned as group Ⅰ ,whose CCT was (13.45 ± 1. 89) s. Twenty two patients with GSC score as 3-12 were assigned as group Ⅱ ,whose CCT was (16.79 ± 2. 07) s. There were significant difference between the CCT of the two groups (t =3. 76,P = 0. 001). (2)Twenty-nine patients with Hunt-Hess grade as 1-2 were assigned as group 1,whose CCT was (13.06 ± 1. 83) s. Thirty one patients with Hunt-Hess grade as 3-5 were assigned as group 2, whose CCT was (15. 89 ± 2.06) s. There were significant difference between the CCT of the two groups (t = 3. 39, P =0. 003). (3) Seventeen patients with delayed ischemic damage were assigned as group A, whose CCT was (16. 84 ±1.91) s. Forty three patients without delayed ischemic damage were assigned as group B, whose CCT was (12.94 ± 1. 67) s. There were significant difference between the CCT of the two groups (t = 2. 23, P =0.025). (4)Forty-six patients with GOS score as 4-5 were assigned as group a,whose CCT was (13.07 ±1. 89)s. Fourteen patients with GSC score as 1-3 were assigned as group b,whose CCT was (17.11 ± 1. 71)s. There were significant difference between the CCT of the two groups (t = 3. 27, P = 0.008). Conclusion CCT may reflect the severity of the SAH in early onset patients and has prognostic value.

Objective To investigate the relationship among serum leptin level in patients with type 2 diabetes and sex , serum glucose, serum insulin, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR) and total cholesterol and triglyceride.Methods 56 cases of type 2 diabetes and 22 normal controls were attended in this study. ABSTRACT
Objective To evaluate advantages of the Herbert screw in treating displaced radial head fractures. Methods The Herbert screw was used to treat 25 segmental fractures of the radial head from since 1991 and the results were compared with those of other treatment methods mentioned in the literature. Results A follow up averaging 6 years and 8 months showed that postoperative function was all excellent or good and that most cases recovered to normal absolutely, without complications. Conclusions The Herbert screw provides such rigid internal fixation for displaced radial head fractures that, after operation, a plaster cast is rarely required and most patients are able to return to work within a few weeks. This method of treatment appears to offer significant advantages over conventional techniques.
