ABSTRACT

Meningioma is the most common intracranial benign neoplasm. The malignant transformation of this neoplasm is less frequent. Here, we report the case of a 77-year-old male patient who came to our department with a visible mass in the scalp for 1½ years. The mass was gradually increasing in size, soft in nature, not painful, and associated with the left-sided weakness. His multidetector computed tomography showed lesion which is having an intracranial component with the destruction of a vault with extracranial extension. This imaging modality gives a clear-cut picture of the extent of the lesion, nearby structures, and vascularity to give the surgeon proper guidance in two, three, and four dimensions

ABSTRACT

Stroke is a condition in which poor blood flow to the brain results in cell death. In India, almost 2,00,000 strokes are reported a year. Basilar artery occlusion syndromeaccounts for 1–4% of all strokes.Top of the basilar syndrome is a type of basilar artery occlusion syndrome where the distal end of the basilar artery is occluded. Imaging findings include ischemic changes in the areas supplied by the distal branches of the basilar artery. A posterior circulation - acute stroke prognosis early computed tomography score system can be used to evaluate the prognosis of the patient. We are reporting a case of top of the basilar syndrome in an 85-years-old female patient who presented to us with complaints of one episode of seizure.

ABSTRACT

Esophageal cancer is an aggressive cancer and has a poor survival rate. An esophago-pulmonary fistula is a rare complication of this cancer. This fistula causes pulmonary abscess formation and death in most patients. We are reporting a case of esophago-pulmonary fistula in a 55-year-old male patient who presented to us with complaints of fever and cough with expectoration. Chest radiographs initially showed right upper lobe consolidation which further progressed to cavitation and later on contrast-enhanced multi-detector computed tomography scan was used to diagnose this condition. An esophago-respiratory fistula is a rare complication of esophageal cancer, and esophago-pulmonary fistula is an even rarer subtype of this complication. It is essential to diagnose this condition early to avoid development of further complications and death.
