ABSTRACT

Introduction and Objective: Premature rupture of membranes [PROM] is one of the leading causes of preterm delivery and Potential adverse in prenatal. Given the importance of certain factors and lack of it's predisposing to this complication, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between PROM and the mother's blood lead level in first half of pregnancy.

Materials and Methods: This longitudinal study has done on 110 pregnant women at 14-20 weeks gestational age at clinics in teaching hospitals affiliated to Tehran University in the years 1389-1390.Obtainig blood samples to measure lead in enrollment and demographic and pregnancy questionnaire was completed. Data were analyzed by SPSS16 software and Corelation Spearman, UNICODE EXTENDED CHARACTER 2, Man-Whitney U, Linear regression tests and P<0.05 was taken as the significant level.

Results: The averagematernal age 26/7 +/- 4/3 years, the average maternal blood lead level of 4/7 +/- 4/9 MICRO SIGN g/dl and premature rupture of membranes 6/8% was reported. According to chi-square test results between blood lead and PROM, there was no significant relationship [P =0/8].

Conclusion: In this study, results showed there was no significant relationship between blood lead levels and premature rupture of membranes.

ABSTRACT

The metabolic syndrome as a branch of metabolic disorders is known as the background of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and stroke. One of the main strategies for the control and surveillance of this disease is nutrition self-management in these patients. This study aimed to determine the correlation between nutritional self-management and health promotion model constructs in women with metabolic syndrome. This cross-sectional study was carried out on women with metabolic syndrome in Isfahan city. 329 persons were selected from the patients with metabolic syndrome of five treatment centers of Isfahan Oil Industry in 2012. Data were collected in 11 parts using a researcher-made questionnaire, which had been designed based on the health promotion model that its validity and reliability had been assessed in a separate phase of design. Data analysis was performed using independent t-test, variance, and Pearson's matrix of correlation at 95% confidence interval. The mean score of the nutrition self-management was obtained 35.1. The mean scores of health promotion model constructs was average or under average. Also, nutrition self-management had a significant correlation with knowledge, perceived benefits, perceived self-efficacy, situational factors, husband's social support, and commitment on self-management implementation, and had a significant inverse correlation with perceived barriers, feeling related to behavior, preferences, and competitors. Considering the correlation of nutrition self-management with metabolic syndrome in women with metabolic syndrome, health promotion model constructs for educational interventions could be used for adoption of an appropriate diet in these patients

ABSTRACT

Assertiveness is one of the social skills which are extensively applied in everyday interactions. It is also one of the factors associated with the human skill "to say no" against hazardous behaviors, including smoking, drug abuse, and sexual affairs. Assertiveness also takes an added emphasis regarding high schoolchildren due to such actualities as peer pressure and the adolescents' particular age conditions. This study was done to investigate the effect of teaching courageousness based on PRECEDE Model on high schoolchildren assertiveness in Gonabad. An experimental study was conducted across Gonabad high school sin the 2008-2009 curricular years. We applied multistage random cluster sampling to select 140 students [treatment group= 70, control group= 70] who were sitting in second grade of the high schools. Using a six-part questionnaire [proportional to PRECEDE model], we collected the data. After doing pre-test, educational intervention was performed in treatment group, based on the model. Post-test was conducted 8 weeks after the intervention. We used SPSS software to analyze the data. Prior to the intervention, knowledge, attitude, and assertiveness of the students was moderate while their saying no" skill was lower than the average. After the intervention, a significant increase [P<0.001] emerged in the mean score of the respondent's knowledge, attitude, skill, and assertiveness. In terms of sex, the male students showed higher level of assertiveness which was statistically significant. There were no significant associations in the other factors between the girls and the sons. The results showed that teaching courageousness based on PRECEDE model may positively effect on the students' knowledge, attitude, and assertiveness as well as the reinforcing and enabling factors. It seems the model could be employed alongside other methods to enhance high schoolchildren's assertiveness

Seeking and keeping close relationship with relatives, particularly with spouse, is an important principle in lifetime. The present study was planned to assess the effect of attachment-based couple therapy on sexual intimacy and satisfaction. In this semi-experimental pretest-posttest study, 30 couples who were referred to Isfahan Cultural House were selected and randomly divided to two equal experimental and control groups. At first, sexual satisfaction and intimacy questionnaires were administered to both groups as the pretest, then experimental group experienced 8 attachment-based couples therapy session. Posttest was administered 2 weeks later and finally follow-up test was performed 2 months later. SPSS version 13 software, descriptive statistical indices and ANCOVA tests used to analyze data. Attachment-based couple therapy significantly improved sexual satisfaction in both posttest [F=512.211, P<0.001] and follow-up stages [F=789.405, P<0.001], as well as sexual intimacy improvement in posttest [F=818.63, P<0.001] and follow-up stages [F=1706.63, P<0.001]. Couple therapy based on attachment theory ameliorates marital relationship by improvement of sexual satisfaction and intimacy

ABSTRACT

Love and libido are basic needs of human being which if they are not satisfied, different signs and symptoms such as physical illness, depression, marital dissatisfaction and even divorce may occur. The present study conducted to estimate the relationship of marital commitment and sexual satisfaction in couples of Shahreza City [2008]. This research was a descriptive correlational study. The sample included 42 couples [84 persons] that were randomly selected from families' public health files in health centers in Shahreza City by two stages cluster sampling. Marital commitment questionnaire and self-made questionnaire of sexual satisfaction were used for gathering information. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and independent t test. Results indicated that relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital commitment was significant [P<0.001, r=0.475]. Also there were significant relationships between duration of marriage and sexual satisfaction [P=0.013] and marital commitment [P=0.021]. Less duration of marriage related to more marital commitment and sexual satisfaction. Moreover results showed the significant relationship between sexual satisfaction and education [P=0.042], and increase of educational level related to more sexual satisfaction. Increasing in sexual satisfaction has effective role in marital commitment
