ABSTRACT
Resumo: Este artigo tem por objetivo debater a gênese, o desenvolvimento e a consolidação da fração mais crítica do Serviço Social no Uruguai. Produto de estudo pós-doutoral realizado na Universidade da República e financiado pela Fapesp em 2020, o texto aborda os elementos centrais que sustentaram a formação de um Serviço Social progressista a partir das lutas latino-americanas coletivamente travadas nas décadas de 1960, 1970 e 1980, e o fim da ditadura cívico-militar no Uruguai em 1985.
Abstract: This article aims to discuss the genesis, development and consolidation of the most critical fraction of Social Work in Uruguay. Product of a postdoctoral study conducted at the University of the Republic and funded by Fapesp in 2020, the text addresses the central elements that sustained the formation of a progressive Social Work from the Latin American struggles collectively fought in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and the end of the civic-military dictatorship in Uruguay from 1985.

Este artigo tem por objetivo abordar as tendências teóricas do trabalho social cubano a partir do início da transição socialista na Ilha (janeiro de 1959). Para tanto, recupera aspectos da história mais recente deste país e situa a importância do movimento 26 de julho (M-26-7) que lutou contra a ditadura de Fulgencio Batista que culminou como a transição socialista e a reestruturação do trabalho social em Cuba. Destaca, ainda, as principais inspirações teórico-políticas que têm orientado o sentido do trabalho social cubano nos últimos 25 anos, suas diversas tendências, seus elementos constituintes, suas teses centrais. Analisa, por fim, com base nesse estudo, os limites e as potencialidades para consolidar uma formação universitária profissional crítica na Ilha, fiel à tradição socialista nela construída e caudatária de suas experiências militantes e progressistas.
This paper considers the theoretical tendencies of Cuban Social Work from the beginning of the socialist transition in the island (January 1959). For this purpose, revisits aspects of recent Cuban history, locates the importance of the 26 of July movement (M-26-7) which fought Fulgencio Batista's dictatorship and culminated with socialist transition and the reorganization of Social Work in Cuba. The paper also emphasizes the most important theoretical inspirations which oriented Cuban social work in the last 25 years, its various tendencies, its constitutive elements and central theses. Finally, based on its findings, the paper analyses the limits and potentialities for the consolidation of a critical professional social work university education in the island, aligned to its socialist tradition and in the light of its progressive militant experiences.

O presente texto analisa o Trabalho Social em Cuba, seus desafios e perspectivas. Destaca, ainda, caminhos e possibilidades para reafirmar a atualidade do debate crítico entre os trabalhadores sociais cubanos e sua necessária interlocução com a teoria social de Marx.
This paper analyses social work in Cuba, its challenges and perspectives. It also emphasizes ways and possibilities to reaffirm the present importance of critical debate among Cuban social worker and the necessary dialogue with Marx's social theory.

O artigo em questão se propõe a oferecer contribuições ao debate sobre a pesquisa em Serviço Social, processo este imprescindível aos profissionais que lidam cotidianamente com a reprodução continuada e ampliada da desigualdade social na ordem burguesa madura (genericamente caracterizada como "questão social"). Faz isto considerando as inúmeras contradições atualmente existentes para a realização de pesquisas orientadas pelo ponto de vista da totalidade, centradas na riqueza da própria realidade (na sua lógica objetiva). Quais caminhos devem ser trilhados para estimular a elaboração de estudos genuinamente ontológicomateriais? Quais os principais obstáculos para isto? Como situar as particularidades da pesquisa em Serviço Social nesse contraditório contexto?
This paper aims at offering contributions to the debate on Social Work research, an imperative process to professionals who deal with the continued and expanded reproduction of social inequality in the mature bourgeois system (broadly characterized as the "social issue"). This is done by considering the several contradictions that currently exist for carrying out totality-oriented research, focused on the wealth of reality itself (in its objective logic). What are the paths to foster the production of genuinely ontological-material studies? What are the main hurdles to that? How the specificities of Social Work research can be located in this controversial context?
