ABSTRACT

Objetivo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar, in vitro, a capacidade antimicrobiana dos sistemas adesivos (Excite e Prime Bond) associados a 5% do extrato de própolis ou a antibióticos (metronidazol, ciprofloxacina e cefaclor- 1% de cada) diante da cepa padrão de S. mutans. Métodos Seis grupos foram avaliados - G1 controle: Excite; G2 controle: Prime & Bond; G3: Excite associado a 5% de própolis; G4: Excite associado aos antibióticos; G5: Prime & Bond associado a 5% de própolis e G6: Prime & Bond associado aos antibióticos. Placas de Müller-Hinton (MH) foram semeadas com a suspensão bacteriana e 0,1mL de cada amostra foi colocado em discos de filtro estéreis nas placas MH. Os procedimentos foram realizados em triplicata. As placas foram incubadas em anaerobiose por cinco dias. Os halos de inibição do crescimento bacteriano foram medidos (em milímetros) por um único leitor devidamente treinado. Os resultados obtidos foram submetidos ao teste Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados As médias aritméticas e os desvios-padrão foram: Excite (0 ± 0); Prime & Bond (0 ± 0); Excite associado a 5% de própolis (0 ± 0); Excite associado aos antibióticos (9 ± 0); Prime & Bond associado a 5% de própolis (0 ± 0); Prime & Bond associado aos antibióticos (1,66 ± 0,57). Conclusão Os sistemas adesivos Excite , Prime & Bond , Excite associado a 5% de própolis e Prime & Bond associado a 5% de própolis não apresentaram efeito antimicrobiano diante das cepas de S. mutans. O sistema adesivo Excite associado aos antibióticos apresentou o maior halo de inibição sobre S. mutans com diferenças estatisticamente significantes (p<0,05) em relação ao Excite, Prime & Bond, Excite associado a 5% de própolis e Prime & Bond associado a 5% de própolis.


Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate, in vitro, the antibacterial activity of two adhesive systems (Excite and Prime Bond) associated with propolis extract 5% or antibiotics (metronidazole, ciprofloxacin and cefaclor- 1% each) against S. mutans. Methods Six groups were evaluated: G1 control group: Excite; G2 control group: Prime & Bond; G3: Excite associated with propolis 5%; G4: Excite associated with antibiotics; G5: Prime & Bond associated with propolis 5%; G6: Prime & Bond associated with antibiotics. Müller-Hinton (MH) plates were sown with bacterial suspension and 0.1mL of each sample was placed in felt barren records and they were transferred into the MH plates. The procedure was made in triplicate. The plates were incubated in anaerobiose for five days. The inhibition zone of bacterial growth was measured (in millimeters) by an only reader duly trained. Results Arithmetic means and standard devidation were: Excite (0 ± 0); Prime & Bond (0 ± 0); Excite associated with propolis 5% (0 ± 0); Excite associated with antibiotics (9 ± 0); Prime & Bond associated with propolis 5% (0 ± 0); Prime & Bond associated with antibiotics (1,66 ± 0,57). The adhesive systems Excite, Prime & Bond, Excite associated with propolis 5% and Prime & Bond associated with propolis 5% did not presented antimicrobial effect against S. mutans. Conclusion The adhesive system Excite associated with antibiotics presented the highest inhibition zone against S. mutans with statistically significant differences (p<0,05) when compared to Excite, Prime & Bond, Excite associated with propolis 5% and Prime & Bond associated with propolis 5% .
