ABSTRACT
Se realizó un trabajo descriptivo y transversal en el hogar del adulto mayor Lazo de la Vega, de Ciudad de La Habana en mayo de 1999. El hogar cuenta con servicios sociales de semiinternado, plan de ayuda al anciano solo, casa de abuelo y ancianos institucionalizados. El objetivo esencial fue valorar si la depresión es un problema de salud en esta población. Se aplicó la prueba de depresión geriátrica en 71 adultos mayores y se enunciaron los diagnósticos y las intervenciones de enfermería más frecuentes en esta afección. Se comprobó que la depresión es un problema en esta población al ocupar un lugar importante como problema de salud. El 100 (por ciento) de los ancianos que pertenecen al plan de ayuda al anciano solo presentaron depresión en menor o en mayor grado. La causa de depresión que predominó fundamentalmente, en los ancianos semiinternos, casas de abuelo y del plan de ayuda al anciano solo fue la social; no así en los ancianos internos, que la causa más frecuente fue la biológica. Según el tipo de régimen, los ancianos del plan de ayuda al anciano solo fueron los que presentaron mayores problemas. Se demostró que las intervenciones de enfermería elevaron la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores no sólo con el fin de darle años a la vida sino de darle vida a los años(AU)
He/she was carried out a descriptive and traverse work in the home of the adult bigger Knot of the Vega, of City of Havana in May of 1999. The home has social services of semiinternado, plan of help to the alone old man, grandfather's house and institutionalized old men. The essential objective was to value if the depression is a problem of health in this population. The test of depression geriátrica was applied in bigger 71 adults and the diagnoses and the most frequent infirmary interventions were enunciated in this affection. He/she was proven that the depression is a problem in this population when occupying an important place as problem of health. The 100 (percent) of the old men that belong to the plan of help to the alone old man they presented depression in smaller or in more degree. The depression cause that prevailed fundamentally, in the old semiinternos, grandfather's houses and of the plan of help to the alone old man was the social one; I didn't seize in the internal old men that the most frequent cause was the biological one. According to the régime type, the old men of the plan of help to the alone old man those that presented bigger problems were. It was demonstrated that the infirmary interventions not only elevated the quality of the biggest adults' life with the purpose of giving years to the life but of giving life a years(AU)
