ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the functional features of motor function area in patients with meningioma by blood oxygenation level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD-fMRI).Methods fMRI were obtained from 10 patients who suffered from meningioma which was adjacent to the motor function cortex.Probabilistic independent component analysis method was used for data analysis.Preoperative and postoperative line Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS)score was used to assess the patient’s condition.Re-sults Contralateral primary motor cortex and the supplementary motor cortex motor functions were observed in all the activation clusters,in which one side activation area compared with the contralateral activation zone was symmetrical in 6 cases, and significant shift in 4 cases. In 4 patients with the movement function activated, tumor extrusion function shift forward or backwardwith tensile deforma-tion were found. Conclusion BOLD-fMRI imaging technology can effectively locate motor functional area for patients with meningi-oma,which can provide preoperative surgical planning.

ABSTRACT

Objective To introduce the techniques and clinical application of coronary arterial calcification measurements by using the multi-slice CT (MSCT). Methods The recent literature on the coronary artery calcium scoring with MSCT were reviewed. The data acquisition, image reconstruction, quantification methods in assessment of calcium and usefulness of calcium scoring in coronary artery disease were investigated. Results MSCT with nearly isotropic volumetric imaging data, subsecond rotation and retrospective electrocardiographic gating could provide better input data for quantification of coronary arterial calcium volume. Conclusion MSCT allows more precise and repeated measurement of coronary arterial calcification with low interexamination variability.

ABSTRACT

The construction of 64-slice-dual-source computed tomography(DSCT) is introduced. Its imaging principle and clinical application are put forward.DSCT has special advantages in diagnosing coronary stricture. The principles of DSCT and energy subtraction imaging are expatiated in detail.DSCT has great value in clinical research and application.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the CT findings and guidance significance of multi-slice computed tomography(MSCT) in aortic intramural hematoma(IMH).Methods The clinical data and MSCT findings of 35 cases of aortic intramural hematomas diagnosed by MSCT with continuous volume scanning were analyzed. Results The direct signs of IMH were crescent or circular thickening of aortic wall without intimal flap and true and false lumens in all 35 patients. The indirect signs were penetrating ulcer(18 cases),calcification ingression(7 cases),atherosclerosis(16 cases)and single or bilateral pleural effusion(21 cases). The complicated signs were aneurysms(5 cases) and typical type B aortic dissection(3 case). Conclusion MSCT is a fast and noninvasive examinational technique,by which the direct, indirect and complicated signs of aortic IMH can be clearly revealed. All these signs have important guidance values for clinical diagnosis and management.
