ABSTRACT

Aim To investigate the effect of Ding''s herb enema prescription on intestinal tissue related target in rat colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS), and to elucidate the mechanism of Ding''s herb enema prescription in improving the intestinal inflammation and intestinal fibrosis. Methods Rats were fed with 3.5% DSS.The rats were randomly divided into positive drug group, model group, Control group, and Ding''s herb enema prescription group. The positive drug group was treated with mesalazine enema, and Ding''s herb enema prescription group was treated with Ding''s herb enema prescription. The colon mucosa was taken once a day for 6 weeks. The changes of intestinal inflammatory response and intestinal fibrosis related proteins were detected by GSR-CAA-67 antibody protein array, and the differentially expressed proteins were screened out. Results Eight proteins showed statistical differences, including IFN-γ, erythropoietin(EPO), TIMP-2, TIM-1, IL-6, TIMP-1, TNF-α, IL-22 (P0.05).Conclusions Ding''s herb enema prescription has the effect of multiple targets, which may improve the intestinal inflammatory response and intestinal fibrosis to achieve the purpose of treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC).

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship between fatty liver and body mass index (BMI), serum lipid levels in aging population. Method 748 of retired people (≥45 years) were studied. All participants accepted liver B -mode Ultrasonography examination, height, weight and blood lipid detection. The relationship between Fatty Liver and BMI, serum lipid levels were analyzed. Results The detection rate of Fatter Liver in male and female was 61.8% and 44.6% separately. The detection rate of Fatter Liver was 53.4% in the aging group (45~59 years), while the rate was 51.0% in elderly group (≥60 years). Compared to the 23.07 kg / m2 and 1.58 mmol/L in group without fatty liver, the BMI and serum triglyceride was 26.77 kg / m2 and 2.13 mmol / L in the group suffered the Fatter Lever. There existed statistically significant differences of Body Mass Index and serum Triglyceride level between the group with and without fatty liver (P

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of PTEN and Caspase-3 in malignant lymphoma of the stomach and explore their role in progression of primary gastric malignant lymphoma.

METHODSFormalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues from 56 cases of primary gastric malignant lymphoma and their adjacent non-tumor mucosa were evaluated for PTEN and Caspase-3 protein expression by streptavidin-biotin-complex (SABC) immunohistochemistry. Their expression was compared with clinical tumor parameters with the relationship between PTEN and Caspase-3 expression concerned as well.

RESULTSThe positive rate of PTEN expression in primary gastric lymphomas (50.0%, 28/56) was significantly lower than that in adjacent non-tumor gastric mucosa (96.4%, 27/28) (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, 43 of 56 (76.8%) gastric lymphomas indicated Caspase-3 expression, less than that in adjacent non-tumor mucosa (93.5%, 29/31) (P < 0.05). The expression of PTEN was negatively correlated with invasion and lymph node metastasis of gastric lymphoma (P < 0.05), while the Caspase-3 expression was negatively associated with the latter one (P < 0.05). Additionally, the PTEN expression was positively correlated with Caspase-3 expression in the primary gastric malignant lymphoma (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSThe down-regulated expression of PTEN and Caspase-3 played an important role in progression of primary malignant gastric lymphoma. PTEN, as a molecular marker of pathobiological behaviors of tumor, contributes to tumor progression by increasing cell mobility and angiogenesis, as well as decreasing cell adhesion and apoptosis.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the role of nitric oxide in the development of brain edema after subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH), and the influence of L-arginine on them. METHODS: Noncraniotomy models of SAH in Wistar rats were used and animals were divided into sham-operated group, SAH group and SAH plus L-arginine group. Dynamic changes of regional cerebral blood flow within 24 hours were measured. Serum nitric oxide level, brain water and sodium content at different time points within 24 hours were also detected. RESULTS: Regional cerebral blood flow and serum nitric oxide level at every time point after operation in SAH group were lower than those in sham-operated group, while brain water content and sodium content in the former group were higher than those in the latter group. Above pathological alterations in SAH plus L-arginine group were not so obvious as in SAH group. CONCLUSION: Decrease in serum nitric oxide plays a role in the development of brain edema after SAH, which may be partly reversed by administration of L-arginine.
