ABSTRACT
Co-operative banks offers a wide range of services including improved access to markets, natural resources, information, communications, technologies, credit, training and warehouses to farmers and rural entrepreneurs. In this paper, it is mainly focused on to examine the determinants to prefer the Primary Agricultural Co-operative Credit Societies (PACCSs) and challenges faced by the members of PACCSs in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. For this paper, primary data have been collected from 140 members of the PACCSs. Such collected data have been analysed with the help of MS Excel and SPSS 22.0. Kendall's 'W' Test and Henry Garrett Ranking Technique have been used for this research
ABSTRACT
Gouty arthritis is caused due to the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints which is the by-product of purinemetabolism in our body. The elevated level of uric acid in the blood is known as hyperuricemia that may resultsin deposition and inflammation of joints. This research experiment has examined the protective effect of Bacopamonnieri, an herb against the monosodium urate crystal-induced gouty arthritis in female Wistar albino rats. The ratswere divided into four groups with six rats in each group. Group-I was normal control rats, group-II rats were inducedwith monosodium urate crystal, group-III was administrated with B. monnieri in monosodium urate crystal-inducedrats, and group-IV was administrated with indomethacin in monosodium urate crystal-induced rats. The rats wereexamined for liver enzyme markers, antioxidant assays, and paw histopathology. The results of B. monnieri werecompared with that of standard drug indomethacin. The symptoms of arthritis, such as the elevation of paw volume,increased liver enzyme markers, decreased antioxidant enzymes, and histopathological changes, were found to bereversed to the normal level by the treatment with B. monnieri which is due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Asconclusion, B. monnieri has shown its anti-arthritic properties against gouty arthritis.
ABSTRACT
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) represent only 0.1 to 3% of all gastrointestinal malignances. They are neoplasms with varying malignant potential ranging from virtually indolent tumors to rapidly progressing tumors. GISTs harbor an activating mutation in either kit or platelet derived growth Factor A (PDGTKA). Confirmation of diagnosis was mainly made by immunohistochemistry. We encountered 3 cases of GISTs with varying presentation. First one was a case of chronic abdominal pain for which the patient was evaluated and found to have mesenteric GIST and was operated electively after thorough work up. Second one presented as a case of acute abdomen. There was a small bowel gist causing intraluminal obstruction. The third one was a case of epigastric pain with recent episode of hemetemesis and malena for which she was evaluated with upper Gastro intestinal scopy and found to have gastric gist with low malignant potential. Patient underwent elective wide local excision of tumor with follow-up.
